There is an unbreakable tension after Zane drops me back off at my house. I regret what I said to my mother, but I also don't. The way that she has been taking my dad's situation and laying all of the pressure on me is unreasonable. I'm not even eighteen, I can barely handle the fact that he could never be back again.

That is why I realize that now is the time for me to become a new person. I've long abandoned Gracelyn and stuck to merely Grace. However, now I can tell that Zane wants me to become Gracie. And that is exactly what I will do.

I rummage through my closet, trying to find anything that can be the initiation of my transition. After hunting for what seems to be forever, I settle on a pair of black shorts and a white button up (it's a tanktop, that is a start).

For months, I've had makeup collecting dust in my bathroom. I normally settle for mascara and subtle lip gloss. But if I want to make an impression as Gracie, I had to do something bold. This is why I completely alter my face and smile at my appearance. Bright red lips, bold eyeliner and a happiness that I haven't felt in a while.

So long Gracelyn. Hello Gracie.
