While Elena, Damon, and Alaric went to Duke University to check Isobel's research for proof that werewolves were real while Stefan and Mallory got stuck on Caroline duty.

After convincing Bonnie to make Caroline a daylight ring, the group of four stood in Caroline's bedroom. Well, Caroline sat on the bed while Stefan, Mallory, and Bonnie stood near her, "So, I don't get to choose the ring I have to wear the rest of my life?" Caroline asked the group.

"Well, I've been wearing the same one for eight hundred years, so yeah, pretty much," Mallory replied without a care in the world.

"Hey, if you don't want it--" Bonnie began to say, but Stefan cut her off.

"No. She--She wants it," Stefan quickly answered for Caroline.

Caroline sighed dramatically, "Now what?" She questioned.

"Now's the part where I explain the rules," Bonnie informed her, "The witch who spells the ring has the power to de-spell it. So, if you ever do anything to hurt anyone--"

"I'm not going to hurt anyone," Caroline cut her off and Mallory scoffed.

"Says the girl who killed a man not even twenty-four hours after becoming a vampire," Mallory commented, "You're a vampire, you're going to kill, no matter how hard you try not to."

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but Mallory's right," Bonnie spoke up, causing Mallory to smile proudly, "You're a vampire. That means the urge to kill is a part of who you are. The minute you let it take over, I will stop you."

"Bonnie, you're supposed to be my friend," Caroline complained.

"I can't ignore what happened, okay?" Bonnie argued with her, "If you want to be friends, you're going to have to prove that the Caroline I remember isn't gone."

"Actually, becoming a vampire just magnifies who you were before," Mallory remarked, earning a glare from Bonnie, "Okay, I'll shut up now."

"Put the ring on the bed, Caroline,"  Bonnie insisted.

Caroline obeyed her friend's orders and placed the ring she wanted to become her daylight ring on the bed. With Emily's spellbook in her hands, Bonnie walked over to Caroline's window, which had a curtain blocking the sunlight from entering.

"Do you really think I meant to kill that guy at the carnival?" Caroline complained.

Bonnie looked up from reading over the daylight ring spell, "He's still dead." She argued coldly, "Now, do you want me to cast the spell or not?"

Caroline immediately shut up after hearing Bonnie's question. Bonnie opened up the curtain a bit so that it could shine on the ring, causing Caroline to jerk back a bit, not wanting the sunlight to hit her. Bonnie looked down at the ring and closed her eyes a moment before finally opening them again, "All done." She informed Caroline, handing her the ring.
