The funeral for your mother was held a few days later. You didn't want to go but you had to. Everyone had gathered outside her grave. No one knew what to say so you all stood in silence. In all honesty, this funeral was a waste of time. We could be gathering supplies or tending to Carl. Carl was still healing and he needed some help. Instead, you were pretending to mourn a woman who meant nothing to you. The funeral was over and everyone had gone back to normal.
You went up to see how Carl was doing. You sit down quietly on the end of the bed as he stirred. You sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"Baby I need to show you something" you said.
"What is it?" he asked.
You pull up your shirt so that your 'baby lump' was showing. You moved his hand so it was placed on top of your belly. He quickly took his hand away.
"It kicked me!" he giggled.
"I think its a girl." you whisper.
"I hope so. So she can be just as beautiful as her mother."
"Please don't ever refer to me as her mother. I am her mom." you whimper.
"Of course. She will be as beautiful as her mom." he said.
You cuddled with Carl, making sure you didn't touch his wounded back.
" If its a boy can we name it Jace?" Carl asked.
"Jace Grimes. It has a nice ring to it." you smiled.
You rolled Carl over to check his wound. It was scabbed over and it was healed nicely.
"Its looking better Carl." you said.
"We should go downstairs. I need to get on my feet." Carl said.
You helped him off the bed and slung one of his arms around your shoulder. You walked down the stairs to hear the screaming and crying of Maggie. You saw her on the ground surrounded by blood.
"What's going on?!" Jace asked.
"The baby is coming." Maggie yelped.
