This cool December morning began when Austin greeted Jill at her locker today after homeroom. He always thought that Jill had a thing for him because whenever she used to talk to him she'd act really strange and awkward. Lately, she's just been normally talking to him.
"So, how's Sherman?" he asked her. He sort of guessed that Jill probably liked Sherman Goody now and he had nothing else to ask her about.
"Good," said Jill.
"Still going to prom with him?"
"Yes. And I think I know what dress, too. It's, like, a pink ball gown," Jill excitedly said. "Who are you going with?"
"I have no idea," Austin said. That freak ruined his one great idea.
"Well, no rush. You have quite awhile to figure it out," Jill said. "Remember...double Chem today." Then she closed her locker and was walked to theatre class by Sherman Goody.
This morning in theatre class was one of the last rehearsals before their performance Thursday night. Today was Tuesday and the whole class really needed practice. But alas, Ms.Romanov was late yet again and something else strange was going on.
The sophomore "should-be" couple of Mick Brown and Mitchie Green were fighting. And we're talking all-out warfare in front of the class. It was common to people who already knew them, but for people who've never seen them get into an argument before...
"I thought they were dating," Sherman whispered to Jill when they took their seats. "Or at least friends. They seemed like buds."
"They've always had this on-and-off, friends then not friends, toxic relationship thing going on. Both really smart kids, seem perfect for each other..." Jill said.
The whole theatre class sat back to watch this fight. People passed around Pop-Tarts and various fruits for snacks so they had something to munch on while watching the two crazy students go at it. Mick and Mitchie were both annoying Honor Roll students who thought they were better than everyone else, so it was quite entertaining to watch them fight with each other.
"How could you diss me in front of my friends like that?!?!" Mitchie screamed at Mick. "Then throw your bag at me?!?! All I said asked you was how was your day going and you act like a total jerk about it! You think you're better than everyone else all because you think you're everyone's favorite. Open your eyes! Nobody likes you!!!"
Mick started laughing and turned to the rest of the quiet class. "You all see this? You all hear this right? She's crazy! I don't have to put up with this!"
"Whatever. You're the crazy one! The one that constantly needs attention. Everyone will agree and you will have to be that one guy who disagrees!"
"Look what she did to my book!" To get the subject off of his character flaws, Mick took out of his bag a single, hardcover book. It was a soaking wet copy of "The Kite Runner". "She broke open my water bottle and soaked my bag!"
"The bottle broke when you threw your bag at me!" Then Mitchie started crying. "Why do you always do this to me?!" Then she threw a stapler at Mick.
Narrowly avoiding the stapler, Mick tried to apologize."I'm sorry, Mitchie. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You have to stop being so psycho, though. I'm sorry."
"Still onto calling me a psycho? Really? You're a scumbag," Mitchie said and then punched Mick in the face.
The theatre class then got extremely quiet in their seats and slowly migrated to the back of the room away from Mick and Mitchie's crazy weird fight. It was like they were following after each other then running away from the other.
