It was two days after Christmas and Jill was concerned.
She woke up, brushed her teeth, took a shower, did her hair, put on sweats, and made herself coffee. Her normal morning routine, okay?
While she waited for her coffee to brew, she checked her phone. It was like her friends were avoiding her. No messages, no calls, no anything anywhere! Not even a Merry Christmas or Merry Belated Christmas. Not even Happy X-Mas. And it's pretty low if you wish someone "Merry X-Mas" instead of "Christmas". Gosh, it's actually harder to do "X-" than "Christ" if you think about it!
Anyways, only her relatives and family wished her a Merry Christmas. Oh, and Sherman, too. Even Lizzie Ramsey. But not any of her seemingly close group of friends.
Maybe Jill was being paranoid or just sensitive, but then again she did feel dissed and avoided.
First off, her friends ditch her performance, leave, and never even come back. They all criticized her for becoming friends with people that were only a little bit different than them. The moment they left her at Dunkin Donuts at lunch the day before break and went back to the school so they weren't late. No one even apologized to her. Sherman ended up having to be late to his English class since he went out to get Jill himself. Luckily, no one stuck them with detention. He even agreed how horrible everyone's been to Jill lately.
Was it her sudden Graymoor fame? Was everyone just jealous? Or were they just plain out tired of her?
But why are her friends alienating her? Jill pondered over this some more.
Jasmine was always very fickle and superficial and extremely jealous whenever Jill hung out with someone else. She's seriously been this way since she was ten. She's probably weirded out by Jill's hobbies, Sherman, Lizzie, and the fact that Jill's been hanging out with them. They're "Ewwwww"s. No wonder Jasmine's leaving Jill alone.
Since Sarah's not one to judge, her character flaw is that she's actually quite competitive. Maybe she doesn't want to be friends with the most famous girl in town at the moment. She doesn't want to be compared to Lady Of The Church. But then again, maybe she's just following the crowd considering she doesn't even have a voice of her own.
But why Claire? Sure Claire has a vendetta against Reverend Goody and hates Sherman for no good reason, but it's not like she has to hang out with him. Claire literally was responsible for her friends having the freedom to ditch her. But why was she mad at Jill? Because she was hanging out with people less attractive than them now? That's not a good reason.
It was time Jill finally hit up the last member of her group that usually opts out of hanging around with the others. Maybe she wouldn't be as affected as them. She was a good girl with her own opinion, regardless of what others thought.
Mabel Alexander.
Since Mabel actually was talking to her, Jill let it all out about what was going on. "I just don't get why they're alienating me like everyone else in our school," she said.
"I wouldn't let it get to you, Jill. They'll come around. I mean, I won't go punching them in the face. Just let it chill for now and it'll all turn out. You go be friends with who you want, who makes you happy," Mabel told her. "You go hang out with whoever, even Sherman. All of Graymoor and Dunville thinks you guys are together anyway. And if you do go down that road, do it because you like him, not for fame."
"Thanks, Mabel," Jill said. "How come you don't usually show up to church? Aren't you, like, almost a nun anyway?"
"Reverend Goody....I don't really like him. Or whatever he thinks 'sweg' is."
