As soon as Blinky had recovered from his shock of seeing my amulet, he stood up straighter and started marching purposefully out of the bar.

"Follow me" he requested, a grim expression casting shadows across his stony features.

We all scrambled after him, struggling to keep pace as he hurried ahead, weaving through the vibrant stones and crystals. We passed veins of pink marble, slabs of bright green emerald and mounds of opal where sparkling orange, green and pink glimmered in the milky white stone like fireworks, but Blinky didn't stop, he kept weaving through the crowds until he turned to the side of the street into-

"A library?" I  questioned as we wandered into it.

Stone shelves lined the walls, overflowing with ancient tomes covered in dusty leather binding. A single book littered table stood in the centre of the cave.

"We needed somewhere quiet" Blinky explained distractedly as he rifled through the shelves, when suddenly he cried "aha!" And pulled out an old book covered in troll markings.

"What's that?" I coughed through the cloud of dust that exploded out of the books pages as he slammed it down on the table.

"A brief recapitalisation of troll history volume 267" he explained proudly, brushing dust off the book into Jim, Toby and I's faces and causing me to break out coughing again.

He flicked through pages and pages of symbols, and intricate pictures until he stopped at a page depicting an amulet that looked just like mine, nestled among paragraphs of text. The painting was so realistic that I could almost see the emerald pulsing angrily in the dim, underground light.

"Morgana's amulet" Blinky read off the page.

"Who is Morgana?" I asked curiously.

"Bad witch" Aaarrrgghh rumbled from beside me.

"Indeed" Blinky agreed "at the battle for Killahead, Morgana was a dark sorceress who fought Merlin, the warlock who created Jim's amulet, since then she has been sealed away, but I fear that the return of this amulet may be the start of much more to come."

"But what has the amulet got to do with her?" Toby questioned from the back of the room where he was chewing on a candy bar.

"After the war there were rumours that she'd created an amulet to oppose Merlin's, but no one had ever acquired any solid evidence . . . Until now." Blinky replied, his yellow eyes gleaming in the dim light.

"Why me then?" I murmured, pacing the room in thought "why not someone stronger, more skilled?"

"That's the most surprising thing about this" Blinky said as his six eyes scanned the page, examining the page like it was a specimen rather than an old piece of parchment "To wield the amulet you must be a descendant of Morgana. You have powerful magic running through your veins (Y/N)."

"What was I supposed to do?" I hissed, irritation lacing my voice with anger "the children turned them on me. The goblins were supposed to hide our tracks, not lead them to us!"

Walter just continues walking ahead of me with irritating calmness as a car that was passing by lit up the entrance eerily, casting a harsh yellow light on the window panes.

"I will see to it that your mess is cleaned up" he told me coldly, turning to pull aside the curtain that veiled the Killahead bridge from humans, not that they would know what it was if they saw it. Glaring at him, I stomped through the cloth, but waiting on the other side was an unexpected guest. For a few seconds I stood stock still in surprise and fear. His skin was made from a dark, weathered stone that held the same darkness as obsidian but instead of reflecting the light, it seemed to suck up, like he was comprised of darkness itself. He sharpened one of his giant curved blades on his stony arm, the dark metal creating sparks that glowed as brightly as his amber eyes.
