ItIt's been two days, and I still haven't heard from Diego. I'm starting to get super worried. I've tried calling him, but he hasn't picked up. I assumed he only wants space, but I don't know why he's taking so long.

"What if I never hear from him again?" I said to Austin.

We were laying out by his pool.

Austin decided I needed maximum relaxation time so I don't lose my mind over this.

"I've told you a million times baby, you'll hear from him soon," he said, lighting a cigarette.

I heard my phone buzz and nearly flipped over in my chair running to go get it.

"And you're right," I said.

"Are you fucking with me? Is that him?"

"Yes! He said he wants to meet me at Perch at 8 tonight."

"Wow. He's really trying to woo you. Maybe he feels bad."

Perch was a fancy rooftop French restaurant, which was not a place I would imagine Diego picking.

I smiled. "Maybe things are starting to work out."

"I told you they would," Austin said. "Now get ready! You don't want to be late for your big date night."

"Shut up!" I said, rolling my eyes. "This could also be him sort of breaking up with me."

"Yeah, because he would take you to a fucking expensive restaurant to break up with you."

I laughed. "I guess not."

I decided to wear the same dress I wore the night Diego and I kissed for the first time, hoping it would be my lucky charm.

When I got there, the staff already knew exactly who I was and led me to Diego's table.

He gave me a small smile when he saw me.

"I've never seen you look this dressed up before," I said to him, trying to break the ice.

"I know. Do you like it?" he laughed.

"You look great," I said. "So...why are we here?"
"I wanted to talk to you alone. A place where we can get away I guess."

"Before you say anything, I'm really sorry—"

"Sofia, I forgive you ok. You're only seventeen. I should be letting you live your life and..."

I could see his eyes avoiding contact with mine and his hand messing with the end of the tablecloth, which was a sign he was nervous.

"and I really had and still have feelings for you, but I don't want to hold you back in some tied down relationship."

"Are you sure it isn't you who doesn't want to be tied down?"

"The only reason I fucked with someone else is that I was scared of how much I like was in love with you, and when I thought you didn't care about me. I had to numb the pain."

"I get it. I really do, and I still have lots of feelings for you."

"Fuck. Then what are we doing?" he said in a frustrated tone.

I laughed.

"Relationships are a lot more complicated when you have feelings."

"Damn right," he said smirking.

"But hear me out, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have gotten together with Austin when you're going through a hard time like this.'

"You're not ok either. I know you're depressed," Diego said quietly.

"Wow, I don't even remember telling you about that."

"People say a lot of shit drunk," he laughed.

"Be quiet," I said laughing. "Was it when we were drunk or tripping?"

"I don't even remember," he laughed.

He reached out to touch my hand. I leaned over and softly kissed him.

"You know, I can't listen to my song, "Moonlight", without of thinking of you. It drives me crazy," he said with our foreheads still pressed together.

"I can't listen to any song without thinking about you."

He sighed,

"I want to just stay with you here forever with no one to bother us. Can we do that?"

"We can," I said. "I know it's weird, but since I met you I feel like there's no time, no days; nothing controlling us. I feel so free."

"Me too," he said.

"I can't believe this is our life. Like how many people in the world can have this experience, and even with all the bullshit and rumors, it's worth it."

"We both didn't even mean for this happen. Did we? We just kind of fell into the fame."

"Yeah."

"It's crazy."
"It really is."

"Do you wanna get out of here?" he said.

"God, I thought you'd never ask."

He laughed. The staff seemed pissed we were there for a total of ten minutes. I tried not to laugh as I saw their faces.

"Let's get In and Out," I said.

"Agreed."

After Diego and I picked up the food, we went back to his apartment.

It was about 10, and we were laying down on his couch. I told Diego I ate way too much to fuck right now, so he was in between my legs while I played with his hair.

"I'm bored," Diego whined.

I rolled my eyes.

"Throw me my purse," I said.

Diego grabbed my purse off of the coffee table and handed it to me. I rummaged through it until I found what I wanted.

"Here they are!" I said.

Diego turned to face me. "What?"

I tore off two tabs and put one on Diego's fingertip.

"You're crazy. I thought you didn't do acid anymore?"

"I changed my mind," I said smiling.

He shook his head and pecked me on the lips.

"Ready one, two, three..."
