About four to six sets of eyes turned on OStar, making her shrink down at the sudden attention.
"Another cat? Don't we have enough already?" An odd human joked, or at least, OStar thought it was a human.
His skin was snow white, bright pink hair with a pair of horns protruding, and a set of dragon wings sprouting from his back. He had red eyes and dark red pupils, three upside-down red triangle markings under both eyes, and a jagged scar across his face. Along with all that he wore a light blue sweater and dark blue extremely basic pants.
"We can never have enough cats," A teen girl replied, her look making OStar blink in confusion.
The left side of the teen looked more human than everyone else, but her right arm and the right side of her face were covered with what seemed to be fabric from a teddy bear. The right side of her face had normal pale skin, long fluffy brown hair, and a bright green eye. She wore a light pink tank-top and black shorts with a white vertical stripe on the left side. The fabric part had a green button eye, a little bear ear poking out of her hair and her arm ended with claws instead of fingers. With all that OStar could hardly see she had a green gem on her chest, just barely poking out from the neck of her tank top. The shape was indistinguishable besides being something with a point.
"That's Avaro and Charlotte," Estella whispered in OStar's ear before entering the room.
"What if someone has a cat allergy?" Avaro commented, leaning back in his chair.
"It's called, wait for it, allergy pills. The owners of this place are literally cats too" Charlotte replied. "Hey Lucerne get your boyfriend in check. He's being mean to our new friend."
From behind Avaro, an even stranger human came into sight.
He had blue skin, pure white hair and eyes, and wore a grey shirt, dark blue pants. Tiny white dots all over his body glowed like small stars.
"He's not my boyfriend! We're just friends!" He protested while Avaro laughed.
"New friend?" A new voice suddenly spoke, and a head popped up from another room. This time, it wasn't even human. Some odd, almost eight-foot dinosaur-looking creature appeared. He had strange blue marks all along his body, some shaped into four-petaled flowers, and a golden yellow underbelly starting from under his chin to the tip of his tail. He wore a white tank-top and had grey pants. Two small arms held a pot filled with some sort of pasta.
OStar stood still, frozen on the spot. He didn't look dangerous as he had no claws, no spikes, and even his teeth were flat and rounded instead of sharp.
"Why don't you sit over here?" Afina's voice perked up, the small cat waving a paw to get the larger cat's attention.
Charlotte and the strange dino exchanged a few more words as OStar pulled herself together and made her way to the other side of the table, where Afina sat on a tall stool.
"That's Rual, he's helping Roxxan get the food out here. There shouldn't be anyone else you have to meet," she meowed with a smile as OStar settled herself in a normal chair next to the small cat.
"ANYWAYS," Avaro said in a loud voice, to get everyone's attention as Rual left.
The snow-white human got to his feet and bowed to OStar.
"I am Avaro, a fugitive from my own village. I am an albino dragon by blood with the ability to turn into a human, not the other way around." He straightened up and pointed to the odd blue person. "This is my friend Lucerne. I've known him since I was a kid, I'm twenty-one now. Nice to meet you OStar," Avaro finished, sitting back down and letting his friend get to his feet.
"I'm Lucerne, a retired Celestial Beast. I can take on any shape or form, though a male human is more fitting for me. By time I am ten thousand four hundred three years old, but my form and personality are more of a twenty-year-old. Whatever age reflects my maturity," he shrugged and continued. "Avaro and I have been here for a little less than a year. Good to meet you," Lucerne smiled and sat back down, Avaro made a fake cough, causing the celestial to glare at his friend for a second, but the albino just smiled back.
Charlotte raised her good hand and stole everyone's attention from the other two.
"Unlike everyone else here, I have a last name," she said, ignoring Avaro who was moving his jaw in a mocking way. The teen narrowed her eye at him but didn't stop. "Charlotte Ruge, I'm a human, seventeen years old, have known Rual for about two years, and have been here for only one or two months." She leaned back in her chair, clearly finished.
OStar wanted to ask her about her odd, fabricated parts but Estella was already introducing herself.
"I'm Princess Estella, and even though I have no memory of my old life, I'm fine without it," she sent a grin toward OStar, as if trying to reassure her that if she couldn't remember where she came from it would still be all right. "Roxxan and I are dating and have known each other for about five or six years now. I'm twenty-seven years old"
"Old," the dragon coughed, getting an elbow in the arm by his blue friend.
"My turn!" Afina perked up after Estella finished.
"I'm Afina, I age like a human, like everyone else here."
"I don't," Lucerne put in and Afina squinted at him before continuing.
"I'm fourteen years old and have been here for almost three years. My past is very fuzzy but I'm fine with it."
The small cat blinked at OStar, as if expecting a response.
"Hey don't forget me!" Rual suddenly barged in, putting down a tray of ham.
"I'm Rual of the Shifls. Sixteen and enjoy reading books, any kind at all. I was gifted by my planet's core to be able to speak any language after hearing only a few words and I can read any language after seeing only a few words. But I cannot speak a language that I only read, though I can translate it and speak it in a language you can understand, English right?" Rual asked, looking over at Charlotte who nodded.
"Great! So, if you ever need a translator, come to me!" He waved and returned to the kitchen when Roxxan emerged.
"Well, my turn, I'm Roxxan, a robot. And I'm the one who led Estella here and helped her get back on her paws after whatever happened in her past. The Fei Essence inside me is the whole reason why I can have my own personality like any regular being. I don't age. Though, like Lucerne, my voice and personality are more of a twenty-eight-year-old. Maybe even thirty, I don't know," Roxxan shrugged and left once more, allowing everyone else to shift their gaze to OStar.
"Umm..." She stammered, lost for words.
"Introduce yourself!" Afina whispered loudly.
"Oh! Err, I'm OStar, I don't remember how I got here and..." Her words drifted off as she ran out of things to say.
"Hey speak up! What's the matter? Cat gotcha tongue?" Avaro called out. This earned another elbow from Lucerne, but to the chest, making his friend wheeze.
"Uh, I'm sixteen and, um, I can do this." OStar raised her paw and let it glow for a bit, a fork appearing and falling to the table. After that she raised her other paw, black smoking curling around it as it was directed to the fork, eating it away until it was completely gone, as if it never existed.
OStar slowly placed her paws back down, looking up at the awestruck faces that stared back at her.
"How'd you do that?" Afina asked, looking at the place where the fork once was.
"Well, umm, I can make things... And destroy them?" OStar replied, not really knowing how to explain it.
Afina's brow furrowed as she thought, her mouth slightly opened as if she was going to ask another question, but not sure what.
OStar felt her paws tugging to escape but luckily Roxxan and Rual returned with a few more dishes and set them down.
"Everyone shut up and eat!" Roxxan demanded.
"You're the one being loud, even louder than us," Avaro pointed out with a grin and the robot glared at him.
Everyone seemed to have lost interest in OStar and moved on to filling their plates, occasionally talking with those around them.
"Here, it must be strange to be surrounded by people you don't know," Rual said, putting down a full plate of food for both OStar and Afina.
OStar nodded silently and he chuckled a bit.
"No worries, you'll get used to it. The people here are fun to be around," Rual smiled, dipping his head and turning away.
She watched the shifl leave and then stared down at her plate, hunger clawing at her stomach.
"Go on, eat," Afina meowed, lifting her face from her plate of food. "No one's going to snap at you."
OStar gave Afina a small smile and began to eat, only to be interrupted by the sound of a toppling chair and an angry yowl from Roxxan.
Next to Lucerne was a white dragon, twice the size of everyone, with clothes starting to tear from being stretched beyond their limit.
Roxxan was on her hind legs, holding the dragon's arm back as he tried to eat a whole pot of mashed potatoes, including the dish.
"Good thing this place is so large," Afina laughed, acting as if this was a completely normal event to happen.
OStar glanced at the ceiling with wide eyes, spotting a chandelier hanging low enough for the dragon to smack if he were to stretch far enough.
"What-" She started.
"That's Avaro," the small cat answered. "Just halfway in his dragon form."
"AVARO, PUT DOWN THAT GODDAMN POT OR ELSE!" Roxxan ordered while he laughed.
"Fine, fine, just let go of me, jeeze," Avaro replied, laughing.
Roxxan reluctantly let go of the dragon's forearm with a hiss, backing away as she fell back down on a fours.
As soon as she let go, Avaro tossed the pot up in the air and into his opened mouth.
"AVARO!" Roxxan screeched.
However, before the pot could land in his gaping jaws, it stopped in midair.
"Aww, Lucerne why'd you go and ruin it?" The dragon whined.
That's when OStar noticed the odd blue spectral winged snake with its tail wrapped around the pot.
"And that would be Lucerne. Remember how he can change his form?" Afina mumbled through her food.
"Yeah..." OStar nodded, still staring at the three ahead of her, startled.
Lucerne fluttered down and allowed Roxxan to take the pot before shifting back into his human form.
Avaro, on the other hand, crossed his arms and looked away, pouting. His friend nudged him and asked him to transform, but the dragon didn't give in until the celestial threatened to eat his food.
Everyone else seemed not to have noticed the chaos, or didn't care, except Charlotte who looked like she wanted to burst out in laughter. It was then OStar realized Charlotte had no plate of food, not even a drink. She wanted to ask why but felt that now was not the time. Maybe she already ate or ate something different from the others.
When everything settled once more, OStar found herself feeling more comfortable around the strange people. She even managed to talk a bit more to Afina as they all ate.
After everyone was finished, they split up to head for bed or to do something else. The little grey cat seemed to have vanished, so Roxxan guided OStar to her room where she promptly flopped down on her bed and curled up, having completely forgotten her strange dream.
