We ended up going to the same park he took me to the night we met. There were a couple of his buddies and a group of girls already there when we got there. I held his arm closer to me grasping tighter as we got closer to the groups.
"Don't worry, they're not gonna hurt you," He looked down at me with a smirk. He took his arm out from my grasp and put it around my waist.
"Hey look, its Dallas!" One of the guys screamed and all eyes were on us.
"Hey Dan." He smiled as we approached the group. One of the girls started to give me a stink eye, but I just ignored her.
"Hey Dal, who's the chick?" Another guy asked taking a sip of beer.
"This is Sara. Sara that's Dan," He said gazing over to the first one we talked to with light brown hair and a short figure."That's Cameron,"He gazed over to the one that asked who I was. He was tall, but not as tall as Dally, and was built husky."and that's Mark." He said pointing over to a dirty blonde that was kinda stick figured, sipping away at his beer.
"What about us Dally baby?" An ombre haired girl asked as her and her friend gave me a nasty look with a smirk.
"Oh, and that's Jannie and Max." He said with a little irritation.
"Hi." I waved shyly and clung closer to Dally.
"So I suppose this is your broad of the night?" Jannie smiled devishly.
"Excuse me?!" I asked defensively.
"Jannie, stop. Its not like that." He said with irritation and anger.
"Oh Dal, I've missed ya." Jannie laughed putting her hands up surrenduring. Max chimed in with her laughter. I just stood there in shock.
"So Sara," Dan cut in to ease the tension taking a sip of his beer."I thought I heard a little bit of an accent. Where ya from?"
"I'm origanally from Tulsa, Oklahoma" I said easing up, while Dal walked over to grab us beers."I moved here when I was thirteen after my dad died."
"Here ya go." Dal said handing me a beer.
"I dont drink, remeber?" I said trying hard not to sound bitchy.
"Oh yeah." He said taking back the beer and sitting it down.
"Our buddy Cam has a thing for southern girls." Dan said with a chuckle looking over at Cameron.
"Well it looks like our buddy, Dallas, does too." Cameron said hitting Dan in the gut jokingly.
"Every girl is Dallas' type!" Mark laughed punching Dals' shoulder.
"Oh shut up Garther."The two started going at it, wrestling.
"So how long have you known Dallas?"Max walked over asking.
"Just this week." I replied as we broke off into our own conversation.
"Listen, you sound nice and all, but Jannies' had this thing for Dallas for the longest time."
"So?"I asked irritated.
"Well one time they hooked up, and she hasn't gotten it through her head that he doesn't like her that way." She said in a whispery voice.
"Oh,"I said looking at the ground."so she was like a booty call?"
"Yeah. So when did you guys?"She asked drifting off in the sentence.
"Oh Nooo.We haven't done that."I said quickly in defence.
"Wait what?!" She asked in shock. "We're talking about the same Dallas, right?" She said slightly pointing over at Mark and him wrestling.
"Uh yeah."
"Oh jeez, he must be softening up." She said with a laugh.
"Hi Max."Dal came over putting his arm around my shoulders.
"Hi."She replied than ran back to where she was sitting.
"Hey guys!"Dan shouted after us as he was walking in the distance."Are we gonna set off some fireworks or not?!" He said as we all started to follow him.
Dally took me home around midnight after some cops drove by and we split.
"I had fun tonight." I said smiling up at him.
"Me too babe" He looked down at me with a smirk knowing how I get when he calls me that.
"Goodnight Dally."I said kissing his cheek instead of getting mad.
"Night." He replied walking off slowly.
When I poked my head inside my grandma was on the phone with a worried look on her face.
"Hold on Darrel, she's right here." She handed me the phone, walking to her room giving me privacy.
"Darry, what's wrong? I asked worriedly.
"Sara, there's been an accident." His voice came through the phone shakey yet serious.
"Is everything OK?"
"Sara, our parents were in a car accident. They didn't make it." He said his voice becoming even shakier.
"I'll be there as soon as I can Darr." I replied as I felt my heart drop into my stomach.
"Thank you. Pony and Soda really miss you, Johnny too. You know how he was close with our parents."
"Okay. I'll call you in the morning to let you know when I'm leaving."
"Okay." He replied and I hung up the phone.
I walked down the hallway into the bathroom slowly and got in the shower. I can't believe they're gone. The Curtis parents were some of the sweetest people I've ever known. They always looked out for Johnny and I when we were little.
I took my time getting out of the shower to process everything while I got changed. I walked in my room seeing Dallas sitting on the window seal smoking a cancer stick.
"Hey what's wrong doll?" He threw his cigarette and walked over to me putting his hands on my shoulders.
"Some of my friends back in Tulsa past away." My eyes started to get watery as I burried my head in Dally's shoulder.
"I'm sorry that happened."He said trying hard to sound sympathetic.
"I'm getting a train there tomorrow night." I said lifting up my head and walking over to my closet grabbing a bag.
"Do you want me to come with you?" He asked confused on what to say.
"You don't have to Dal." I opened my bag and started putting cloths in it.
"You sure?"
"Nooo..."I said walking over to him and hugging him.
"It'll be okay." He said cuffing my chin and kissing me.
