It was a day after Jessica said yes to being an Avenger. Meanwhile in Dakota City, a young man who'd just graduated high school was at a restaurant with his father and older sister. It was Virgil Hawkins, AKA Static. He, his father Robert, and his sister Sharon found out that Virgil had been accepted to attend Gotham University. And they decided to celebrate. They went to Virgil's favorite restaurant to celebrate this achievement. A few minutes later, Virgil decided to use the bathroom. Once he was finished doing his business, he washed his hands.

"Congratulations on your acceptance to Gotham University," said someone. "Thanks..." Virgil confusedly asked as he jerked his head towards the man who said that. It was Peter Parker. But Virgil didn't know that. "Who are you?" Virgil asked, still confused. "My name's Peter Parker," replied Peter, "it's nice to meet you Virgil."

"How do you know my name?" asked Virgil. "Bruce Wayne told me about you," said Peter. "How do you know Bruce Wayne?" asked Virgil. "I know one of his allies," stated Peter. "Allies?" Virgil asked in surprise, "When you say allies, do you mean like superhero allies?" Peter nodded. Virgil smirked and asked, "What, are you like a superhero yourself?" Peter got out his web-shooters and let out his webbing, and it landed on top of the ceiling. Peter jumped up, and hung upside down with his webbing. Virgil's electric sparks popped out in surprise. "Whoa, you're Spider-Man!" he said.

"That's right Static," said Peter. "So Batman told you about me?" asked Virgil. "Yeah," said Peter, "and the reason I'm acquainted with Batman is because I was pen pals with Batgirl. Plus her dad was roommates with my uncle." Virgil chuckled and said, "Small world I guess. Why you here, Spidey? Not that I mind. I mean, I'm a big fan of yours."

"You're probably wondering why you were accepted to Gotham University, right?" asked Peter. Virgil shrugged and said, "A little..." Peter got off his webbing and said, "Bruce Wayne was the one that had you accepted into GU."

"How come?" asked Virgil, "GU is a pretty big college. Why choose a guy like me?"

"What if I told you that Bruce, SHIELD, and Tony Stark was forming an Avengers Base in Gotham City?" Peter asked. "For real?" asked Virgil. Peter nodded. "This base needs a team of their own," stated Peter, "I'm going to be part of the team. Virgil, how would you like to join the Gotham Avengers?" Virgil thought for a moment and said, "So, I'll have to move to Gotham City, attend GU, and I can be an Avenger as Static?"

"Basically yeah," said Peter, "you interested?" Virgil got excited and said, "Hell yeah man! I'd love to fight alongside you Webhead!" He excitedly shook Peter's hand. Peter smiled and said, "Well then, welcome to the Gotham Avengers, Static."
