It had been a week since Zoey left the house to work, it was just a day like the rest Zoey had left the house before Amanda woke up but the unusual thing is Zoey did not come back that night or the night after or the night after that and now it has been a week, Amanda had called her but she didn't answer, every time Amanda had called the phone had been switched off. Amanda was getting worried; Zoey never left for so long without a word this was unusual and had bad luck written all over it.

Amanda hadn't gone out since Zoey had left the week before she never thought she would be on her own for this long and was now becoming restless, she was running out of food and information. Amanda decided to visit her mum and buy some groceries, Amanda was beginning to feel and know the importance of the one person she had left and fear triggered her powers more often than usual and having no one to share the occurrences around the house Amanda felt like she might be going mad.

Amanda had left the house very early in the morning; she did not want anyone to see her so she wore a hood she walked most of the way before boarding a taxi. At first she wanted to go on a morning walk but the distance was too much so she decided to board a taxi because she was tired physically and mentally the 'if's' she thought of along the way was too much to bear.

When she reached the hospital she was so eager to see the doctor more than her mum but the response from the doctor was the same as the last time if not more depressing "your mother is in a comma and there is nothing I can do." The doctor had said. The words replayed in her head when she saw her mother in her bed still peaceful as usual.

"How long are you going to be like this mother?" Amanda said with a tear stricken voice. "I thought you will be here for some days but you've been here for weeks now and I don't know where Zoey is, I am so worried -" Amanda took a breath. "I am so afraid." Amanda said as if she had presumed the worse had happened. Amanda did not talk after this for there was no point in talking to someone who could not hear her, she did not sleep like last time she just cried until she could cry no more because she knows what will happen if her presumption were true. There was no one left; she had become so dependent on Zoey that the thought had inflicted more pain than being sure. When Amanda was tired of crying she kissed her mom and told her goodbye.

Amanda on her way home was as cold as ice and walked so slowly that the world seemed to be in fast-forward but what did it matter to her. Amanda stopped by a newspaper vendor to buy some magazines but was attracted to a newspaper with a picture of a girl she found familiar, when Amanda picked it up she paid no attention to it but after the vendor had convinced her she ended up buying it all the same.

The weather was getting wet as fall came and Amanda decided to take a taxi home eager to see why the girl in the newspaper looked familiar even though the face had been burnt and eager to get home before it started raining.

Amanda got home safely but still in her sour mood for it seemed that anytime she visited her mother depression crept on her. Amanda made herself a cup of coffee and sat on one of the kitchen seats trying to make sense of what she saw in the newspaper.

"The accident took place during the afternoon two days ago, the vehicles involved in the accident were a small black optimal car and a..." Amanda stopped reading after realizing who the person in the picture was for she had the same car with the one described but Amanda could not stop reading even though tears where already in her eyes she had to know how it went down. "...Volvo jeep. The drivers involved in the accident included a young female whose age bracket between 18 and 22 while the man who seemed to be drunk at the moment had the age bracket of 40 to 45. The accident had been the cause of the drunken man who had been driving above 200km/h in a quiet road, maybe he did not expect anyone to be passing the road at the time and then it occurred. The young woman had been going towards the drunken man in her lane where she had seen the driver speeding towards her, she probably tried to dodge the upcoming vehicles but it was to no avail the two cars had crashed against each other leaving both the drunkard and the young girl dead. Because the vehicles had caught flames immediately they crashed"
