chapter 9

MAN OR ALIEN
Amanda woke up the next day healthy and strong her fever was gone and her ankle was strong but most of all she was happy to go to work and she did not know why but she found herself wanting to go for a physical test. 

Amanda got to work early and was looking for Rachel but she was not in her post.  Amanda wondered why but on her way to the reception she saw Michael coming down the hall. 

“Good morning.” Amanda said to get Michael attention.

“Good morning to you too.” Michael said.  “How’s your leg?”

“It’s okay.” Amanda said with a smile on her face.

“I have never seen you smile before and I have to ask what is making you so happy” Michael asked.

“I don’t know. It must have something to do with the drugs.” Amanda said.

“Take care of yourself I have to go somewhere we will meet later.” Michael said leaving Amanda but the truth is that he had gone to check on the watch and it said Amanda was on green and she was going to take another blood test this morning.  Michael had decided to ask about her friend.  Amanda was almost entering the labs when he met up with her. 

“Angel, wait up.” Michael said.

“What’s wrong?” Amanda asked.

“Nothing serious I just wanted to know who your mother is?" Michael asked

“Really, right now?” Amanda said and entered the lab angry and disappointed.  Amanda had started thinking about her mother and how terrible she was for not visiting her all this while, Michael had not just succeeded in keeping her human he had succeeded in spoiling her day. 

“Angelica, are you feeling well?” Noris said as she looked at her blood test.

“I am. Why did you ask?” Amanda replied Noris

“Nothing much it’s just that a lot has changed since our last test.” Noris said still trying to see what was wrong.

“What is wrong?” Amanda asked.

“There is nothing foreign; it shows that you’re human.” Noris explained.  “You can go, I will just keep running test on what I have.
Amanda did not know if she should be happy or not because she wanted to get rid of her powers but now that’s the only way she can make enough money for school.  Amanda decided to go for her first test with Dian Smith.

On her way she taught of the question that Michael had asked her and why he did but train of thought stopped immediately she approached Dian’s office door. 

Amanda knocked the door and waited for permission to enter. 
“Come in.” Dian said.  Amanda had forgotten how blinding the office had been and was reminded by the light that had entered her eyes.  Amanda could not see Dian well because she was standing close to the source of the light which was the sun. “Amanda, are you ready?” Dian asked.

“I’m not sure I’m ready for what you are going to ask me to do.” Amanda said shyly.

“I told you before that I was going to carry test on you but I have not done anything extreme that has put your life in danger and I have not tested you on your powers because of your conditions.”

“So.” Amanda interrupted rudely because the course she ran the day before was not light in any way.

“So this means you have not been working your money’s worth for two weeks but I’ve been kind enough to pay you your full amount.” Dian snarled.
