Payback

Leo's POV

The next day at school, I was walking through the hall, hand holding with Piper, when I saw something that stopped me dead in my tracks. I saw Annabeth and Percy, holding hands, and Annabeth was leaning her head on his shoulder. Piper was confused to why I stopped, and I quickly pointed my head toward the two. She looked at me and squealed like a child getting the toy they wanted for Christmas. She started jabbing at my side, unable to contain her excitement. I dragged her to my locker, where we could privately talk about what happened.

"LEO!!! DID YOU SEE WHAT I SAW??? IT WORKED! IT WORKED!" Piper squealed.

"Pipes, you gotta relax. You're acting like your mom. What we have to do is tell Hazel and Frank." I replied, barely able to contain the excitement in my voice. Her eyes were full of pride and joy, and I couldn't help but find them endearing. Everyday I looked at her, I realized how incredibly lucky I was to be in a relationship with my best friend, Piper McLean.

"Ok, we'll do that. But first, DID YOU SEE HOW ADORABLE THEY ARE??? I MEAN LIKE I HAVE WANTED THEM TOGETHER FOREVER AND IT FINALLY HAPPENED AND IT'S BETTER THAN I COULD HAVE EVER HOPED AND THEY LOOKED SO HAPPY!!" she said, too thrilled for her own good.

"Yea, Percy never seemed happier. Annabeth looked like she didn't believe it was happening." I replied. I quickly grabbed my and her stuff, and lead a thrilled Piper to homeroom. We plopped in our usual seats, and I couldn't help but notice how Piper kept looking at Annabeth and Percy the whole time.

Percy's POV

As Annabeth and I walked to our lockers, we noticed Piper and Leo realized our obvious and overdramatic affection towards the other. He was thrilled and glad about the plan they had come up with. We went to our lockers.

"Percy, they think it's real! Two down! When we tell them that we aren't really together, they'll finally drop it, seeing how they can't control everything." Annabeth giddily said. I frowned inside. I wanted so desperately for this to be real. For me to really be able to hold Annabeth's hand and for people to know that we are together, and that she was mine. The fact that this was all payback to our persisting friends further upset me. At least I got to know what it would be like if Annabeth was mine, I thought.

"Yea, Annie. I have an idea to further their thoughts." I said, while actually developing a plan.

"What's your idea?" she asked, worry written on her face. I laughed while I grabbed my books.

"Pet names for each other. Make it all cutter." I said, secretly wanting to say the name I had always wanted to call her.

"You're brilliant!" she declared, while grabbing her books.

"For me, you're Wise Girl. What's mine?" I asked, expecting something to characterize my athletic life or how well I can swim. She seemed to ponder it.

"Seaweed Brain." she replied. I groaned jokingly, but inside I was thrilled. Leave it to Annabeth to be honest.

"Have you told Luke about our plan?" I dreadfully asked. I secretly hoped she didn't so they might break up.

"Yes, he's fine with it. I am going to hang out with him more after school so we could actually be a couple." she whispered in my ear so no one could hear. I unknowingly frowned, and she gave me a confused look while we began walking to homeroom.

"We can't hang out then." I semi lied. I didn't want her to know about my dislike to Luke, or she might get upset. She grinned and playfully slapped my shoulder. As we walked into class, we sat together as we normally did. When Leo and Piper walked in, Annabeth kissed my cheek to continue the act, and I blushed tomato red.

Sorry about lack of updating. I haven't seen my friend in months and I've been spending time with her. By the time I got home, my Internet wasn't working.
