"Handcuff them to the bird cage and lock the baby inside" said the man
"I am sorry about this children" said Fernald "but you shouldn't have used that Verdant Flammable Device earlier"
"Fernald, we need to listen to what they're saying in there" I said
"Please Fernald" Duncan pleaded
"I'm sorry, I truly am but I cannot"
"Thirsty" said Sunny
"We've got plenty of ice water" said Fernald
"Fizzy?" said Sunny
"I did see the boos chuck half-empty bottle of sarsaparilla down the road, but I'm not allowed to leave you alone"
"Fernald, you can leave us alone" I said
"How are we supposed to run away?" said Duncan
"Fine" he smiled
"Just because its you three" and he walked away.
I quickly spring into action, I had already unlocked the handcuffs. So me and Duncan got up and after saying a quick goodbye to Sunny. We ran around the back of Count Olaf and Esme's tent and listened into their conversation
"and then when the Snow Scouts arrive to celebrate False Spring, we will lure them onto the tarp which will be laid out"
"After that, we will call our eagles and they will trap the Snow Scouts inside the tarp and carry them away"
"Eventually leading to us burning down all of their houses and getting all of their fortunes"
"They're going to kidnap innocent children" I said
"And burn down all their homes, collecting all their fortunes"
"We most certainly will" said Count Olaf grabbing me and Duncan
"How did you know we were there" I said
"We aren't idiots" said the man
"We saw the hairpins in your school uniform the minute me and my brother arrived on top of this mountain" said the woman
"Then why didn't you take them" I asked
"Lets just say it was an experiment" the man said
"Experiment?" Duncan asked
"Yes, to see if there is any hope left in you, there is"
"You see, if we had succeeded in taking you two children that night, you wouldn't be like that"
"Another way you have failed, Olaf, if those children were in our clutches, they wouldn't have even thought of escaping"
We sat there until the four villains finished plotting and were dragged outside once they were done.
"Where's Hooky? I told him to wait with the orphans" said Count Olaf
"You seem to have trouble controlling your underlings, Olaf"
"We have a job for you. There's a camp in the woods. There you will find the tarp"
"Bring it here and lay it over the road"
"That sounds like work" said Esme
"I know, why do we have to do it?"
"Because we say so" said the woman
"Yeah sure. We'll just go now." agreed Count Olaf.
"Our plan is all coming together" said the man
