"Now boarding flight to London. I repeat, now boarding flight to London." The intercom said at the Martin Luther King Jr. Airport, where I, Katie Marshall, was running to catch my flight.
"I'm here! I made it!" I shouted with excitement. I had been waiting to go on this trip for nine months. I was going to meet up with some of my family that lived in Cardiff. I even hoped to go to school there, and work in the science feild.
"Yes. You made it. Enjoy your flight Ma'am." As the flight attendent checked my ticket before heading down the tunnel to go onto the plane.
I found my seat, the emergency exit. One of only a few seats left. So I picked this one.
I somtimes consider myself a relative of Amelia Earheart. I loved to travel and loved to take a risk, and nothing would stand in my way of doing so.
"I was starting to think I would be riding in this seat alone for sixteen hours. Glad to see I have some company." The man in the seat next to mine said.
"Same here. I'm Katie."
"Shaun. What are you doing going to London by yourself? Quite dangerous don't you think?"
"Danger is my middle name. And for your information, I am meeting with some family. And possibly thinking of going to school here. What about you?"
"Travelling. Meeting some buddies of mine that I met a few years ago in DC. We plan on staying in London a few days, then going to Paris to tour the Catacombs."
"That sounds thrilling! I would love to go in the Catacombs, but alas. I have plans elsewhere."
"Well. I'll take a bunch of pictures and email them to you."
"Great, here's my email." I wrote down my email on a scratch peice of paper and handed it to Shaun.
"I will be in Paris in a week. So I probably won't get them to you until two weeks." Shaun said.
"Alright. I look forward to seeing them." I said. We talked for the first couple of hours on the flight. By the fifth hour, I had started to fall asleep while reading my favorite book, Hamlet. The flight got to London at 8:00 p.m. I quickly got off the plane, grabbed my bags, and proceeded to look for my family that was waiting outside the airport.
"Uncle Todd, Aunt Emily! How are you all doing?" I asked as I was greeted with hugs from my family.
"We're doing fine and dandy. How was the flight? Slightly bumpy from the turbulance was it?" Uncle Todd said.
"Just a little bit. I feel asleep during most of the flight." I said.
"Oh, well. Now you are rested. Do you want to grab a bite to eat? I am craving something with chips." Aunt Emily said.
"Sure sounds good." I said. Uncle Todd, Aunt Emily, and I found a little pizza shop about twelve minutes from the airport. After pizza we got to Uncle Todd and Aunt Emily's flat that is outside of Cardiff.
"Well this is it. Not much, but it is just enough. Don't need a lot of stuff." Uncle Todd said.
"It's perfect." I said.
"Well, we have to get going to bed. Early morning tomorrow. Goodnight Katie." Aunt Emily said.
"Goodnight Uncle Todd and Aunt Emily. See you tomorrow." I said. I fell asleep on the couch still reading Hamlet. I guess my Aunt came into the living room, and placed a blanket over me because I woke up with a blanket on top of me, and the lamp turned off.
