Did I hear this correctly? Toshiko, Owen, and Ianto are dead. Gwen had a baby six months ago. But I just left Torchwood a couple hours ago, and just said goodbye to Justin and Charlie a couple minutes ago. How did we skip a year and a half into the future? "I need to sit down for a bit." I said.

"Do you want some water?" Captain Jack Harkness asked me.

"Yes. Only if you weren't going to wipe my memory of ever being a part of Torchwood." I said.

"I wasn't planning on it." He said.

"Good. Because you need me. I could be very helpful to you, even though I don't know what happened during the past year and a half." I said. "What happened while I was gone? How did everyone die?"

"Owen was killed at a nuclear power plant. Toshiko was killed was shot, and bleed to death. She died in Mine and Gwen's arms." Captain Jack Harkness said. It was obvious it was hard for him to talk about it.

"And Ianto?"

"While negotiating with aliens wanting to gather up ten percent of the children of earth, the aliens let out a disease that killed everyone in the building. I had died too, but I came back to life." He said. It was harder for him to talk about Ianto.

"I'm sorry Jack." I said.

"I'm sorry for your loss old friend." The Doctor said. He went to pat Jack on the back.

"What do we do now?" I asked. "We can't just sit here and do nothing. We need answers. We need to do something."

"There is nothing much we can do." Captain Jack Harkness said. "What's worse, is that I am bruising."

"Well that's not so bad. I still have bruises from that freak hail storm a couple of hours ago, I mean a year and a half ago."

"No. I mean, I am not healing. I should be healed already. I don't think I am immortal anymore." Captain Jack Harkness said.

"Now that's a problem." The Doctor Said. "Is there anything I could do Jack?"

"Try to keep me alive." Captain Jack Harkness said. "We will be doing some undercover work from here on out. That means sneaking into federal buildings, impersonating federal personel. We are going to uncover why they wanted Torchwood gone."

"Does this mean I have to change my identity again?" I asked.

"If you want. You might be able to pull off Samantha Harper from England, even though your name is on a plaque by the Torchwood ruins. It might look suspicous though."

"Okay, so going back to Katie Marshall is out of the picture." I said. "But you know. I want to go back to it, If I get caught, oh well."

"I like the sound of it." Captain Jack Harkness said.

"I have to start heading out. I am needed elsewhere. If you need me Jack, just give me a call." The Doctor said.

"I will. But before you leave, we need to unpack the TARDIS of Katie's things." Captain Jack Harkness said.

"I almost forgot about that." I said.

"Let me help you guys." The Doctor said.

"Let's hurry because we have a lot of work to do." Captain Jack Harkness said.

As we were bringing boxes out of the TARDIS, I kept on thinking to myself about the whole time travel thing. As well as space and time dimension. How did it work? How was it that the TARDIS didn't bring us back to the regular time? Maybe I wasn't meant to be in that time. Perhaps I was meant to live throughout what happened to Torchwood, and the TARDIS saved me. But I couldn't be sure about it.

"Well the boxes are all finished. Time to get some lunch, and I will fill you in on what's been happening around the world for the past year and a half." Captain Jack Harkness said.

"Sounds great." I said.

"See you Jack." The Doctor said.

"Oh, by the way," Captain Jack Harkness said, "Nice bow tie." The Doctor smiled, waved, walked into the TARDIS, closed the door, and then it vanished.

"You can unpack your things when we get back." Captain Jack Harkness said.

"Can I drive?" I asked.

"Go for it." He said. I smiled took his keys out of his hand, and ran outside to look for a car that would resemble something that Captain Jack Harkness would drive. I pressed the button to unlock the car. What unlocked was a blue convertable.

"No way! This is incredible!" I said. "This is really your car?"

"Yes it is." He said.

This was exciting. I was still a little bit in grief over the fact that I lost part of the team who was more like part of my family.  It felt weird going back to driving the American way again. We drove around a little bit to find a small italian resturant. We walked into the resturant to smell the delicious aroma of the air. We were greeted by a man in his mid thirties.

"Hello. Table for two?" He asked.

"Yes." Captain Jack Harkness replied.

"Follow me." The man said. We followed him through the maze of tables. We were seated in the corner, where we could have a good view of the car. "Your waiter will be over here in just one moment." The man said.

We sat down and unwinded. "So what's been going on since I have been gone? Other than what I don't already know. Would this be 2011?" I asked.

"Yes it would." Captain Jack Harkness said. "There isn't that much going on around the world. Just new conspiracies about anything and everything. Government cover-ups." He said.

"That's good, I guess." I said. I wasn't sure how to respond. I have been gone for what I know was a few hours, but I guess was longer. I am not sure about a lot of things anymore.

"Have you heard from Gwen at all?" I asked.

"Yeah, we went to hers and Ryce's wedding. A few months after that is when she found out she was pregnant, then six months later I saw her, she tried to get me to come back with her. But I refused. I wanted to fix what had happened. She and Ryce went to the coast to go into hiding. I hope they are doing alright." He said.

"How time flyes." I said. We finished about fourty-five minutes later. We headed back to the car, and drove off. Our first stop was a shooting range. Jack impersonated as my Uncle who was teaching me about shooting guns. Since our hideout had no possible way of practicing shooting, we had to go to a gun range. Throughout my short time in Torchwood, I never had to use my gun. And there was only one other shooting practice after my initial at Torchwood.

"Ready. Aim. FIRE!" I heard constantly.

"Keep your arms steady." Was another.

"Remember to look through the rear sight of your pistol." Was the least common.

"Fingers off the trigger until ready to fire." Was the most common.

We were there for a good two hours. I was ready to go back and go to sleep. But Jack had more for us to do. Our next stop was the store. We had to get more food, supplies, and some essential items. It felt like we were getting ready for an appocalypse. We walked out with about $500 worth of supplies just for the two of us. I had hoped we didn't draw any suspision towards us.

We had to make several trips from the car to bring the items from the store back to the apartment. Some of the items were heavy. Others were really light and could be carried in bags and in large quantities.

"What's next." I asked.

"We get ready."

"Excellent."
