"You will like Torchwood Katie. Everyone is friendly. And the work we do doesn't seem like a job. We all just have fun, but yet we serve our purpose there." Gwen said.

"How did you get to be involved with Torchwood?"

"Well it all started when I was working with the police. It was a rainy night. Jack and his team were circled around a dead man in the middle of the alleyway. I had overheard them doing something from below, as I was in a parking garage. I looked over to see what they were doing, and they brought a man back from the dead. It was then Jack saw me. I had gathered just enough information that I started privately investigating. Once I found out about Torchwood, Jack tried to wipe my memory of it. But somehow I remembered just enough information, and that's how I got my job here."

"Do you think Jack will try to wipe my memory of Torchwood?"

"No. We hardly use any amnesia pills anymore. Too dangerous." Gwen said.

"What do you think of Jack?"

"I thought he was kinda cute when I first saw him. But I am a married woman. And he's gay. So I'm told. But he cares for every person on his team. He's kinda like a dad. Oh, and might I mention he is from the 51st century. He, I think is a Time Agent. Don't know for sure what they really do. Time travel?"

"Are you serious?" I asked. I think I may be more in shock about this than being offered a job at Torchwood. I didn't care that he was gay, or the fact that he was from the 51st century. I can't really fathom how that is possible. I just knew he was going to be an awesome person to work for. He already was great to work with, even though it was just firing practice.  "But-"

"You had the hots for him too I see? Don't worry I did too, even though I had a boyfriend at the time." Gwen said.

"Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that." Gwen and I laughed at my comment.

"So is this it here?" Gwen asked pointing to the small flat.

"Yes it is." I said. "Gwen, can I tell you a secret?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"I never really had any intention of going back home. I wanted to start out fresh and new here. I have a lot of family in America, but they are all spread out. I just want to get out of there. Everything is expensive, and I don't feel like I belong at all."

"Oh, Katie. Cheer up. Don't think like that. Everything is going to be fine. Now go enjoy dinner with your family here, and I'll go pick you up tomorrow at nine."

"Thank you for the lift."

"Don't mention it. And don't worry, your secret is safe with me."
