We started heading back to Torchwood from the marina. Jack made me drive back. Ianto this time was the one in the passenger seat directing me home.
"You need to make a left here, then get onto the freeway over there." Once we got onto the freeway all was quiet, until, we hear Jack say, "You have a follower. He's riding your tail. Go faster so we could loose him." As soon as I accelerated, the car behind me accelerated as well. He followed me for a good ten miles, even when I got off of the freeway. I lost them as I sped through a yellow light that had just turned red. Cars were coming from the side. The person following us had no choice but to stop.
"WHOO HOO! YEAH! GREAT JOB SAM!" Captain Jack Harkness said. We soon were pulling into the parking lot of Torchwood. I was feeling thrilled. My adrediline level was high. I didn't want it to stop.
"To get back to the movie thing, I have a good one in mind." I said.
"This should be good." Ianto said.
"It is. It's called Top Gun." I said. "Navy pilots, Tom Cruise, great soundtrack. Did I mention Tom Cruise was in it?"
"Yes. You might have mentioned it." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"We could watch Interview With A Vampire." I said.
"Oh more Tom Cruise. We'll leave it at Top Gun." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"We don't fully live in the dark." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"What about dinner?" Ianto asked.
"I'm not that hungry. A sandwitch sounds good to me." I had already started to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwitch, and grabed a soda.
"Where are we going to get this movie that you are talking about?" Ianto asked.
"I brought it with me." I said.
"What did you not bring?" Ianto jokingly said.
"The kitchen sink." I replied. I got a chuckle out of him.
"I have the dvd player all set up. You can just get your movie, and meet us in the conference room." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"Be right back." I ran up to my room and searched through the items I brought with me. This movie is my brother Charlie's. After I found the movie, I ran down to the conference room where Jack and Ianto were eating.
"So why did you bring this movie with you?" Ianto asked. "It looks like a guys kind of movie."
"I grew up with two older brothers. Charlie and Justin. I watched all of the classics. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Top Gun, Jaws, Blade runner, Gilligan's Island, the X-Files. The list goes on. Plus I wanted to go into the military."
"Which branch?" Captain Jack Harkness asked.
"I don't know. Somewhere where I could be on a boat, or where I could fly." I said.
"I couldn't see you going through boot camp. You are so small and fragile looking." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"That's what my brothers said. But I know I could take them down."
"Let's get this movie playing." Ianto said. We started playing the movie. We ate our food with our eyes glued to the screen.
"I'm curious to find out what else you were interested in doing as a career." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"Well, when I was younger I wanted to be a teacher of some sort. Then I wanted to be a professional ballerina, dog trainer, archiologist, pilot, doctor, I told you I thought of going into the military. I have narrowed it down to something in the science feild."
"That's one hell of a selection you have there." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"Yeah. Tell me about it." I said. There was a pause as we were watching the movie. "So tell me about yourself Jack. You never die. How's that possible?"
"It was an accident. I just woke up, I think I fell off a cliff. I don't really remember."
"Interesting."
"I also came from the fifty-first century."
"Well alright then. How are you in the twenty-first century?"
"I'm a time agent. I used to be a poster boy, when I was a kid, living in the Boeshame Peninsula. Tiny little place." He paused. "I was the first ever to be signed up for the Time Agency. They were so proud of me." He paused again. "The Face of Boe, they called me."
"What's going to happen in the fifty-first century?" I asked.
"I can't tell you."
"It's not like I'm going to live another 300 years to find out." I said.
"You can't learn about the future. It could change like that." as Captain Jack Harkness snapped his finger.
"So it's kind of like the Butterfly Effect?" I asked.
"Yeah in a way." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"What is the Butterfly Effect?" Ianto asked.
"Well the Butterfly Effect was thought out some time in the sixties I think. I think it was thought of when a comic book about travelling back in time to the dinosaurs was being written. It was thought along the lines of this, 'If I accidentally step on this butterfly in the past, what kind of reprocussions will it have on the future?' Do you get the jist of it?" I asked.
"Yeah. For the most part." Ianto said. We got back to finishing Top Gun. I think I got Ianto fixated on it. He didn't really engage in our conversation much. God I hope he doesn't start dressing like a pilot. What would be worse, is if he started wearing Aviator glasses and refered to himself as Maverick. Captain Jack Harkness's thing is to dress like he is from the 40s. It should just be him. I can't picture all of Torchwood dressing like that to go solve cases, then no one would take us seriously.
