It had been a few days since the Doctor left. Captain Jack Harkness told me I needed to come up with a whole new identity, because my Aunt and Uncle no longer remember me visiting them. I think I have to get a whole new look too. Although, I believe he did say that somehow I could get my things from home brought over to Torchwood. But that won't happen until I was scheduled to come back home. We would create a missing person ad. Everyone would be searching for me. But no one would know I was in Torchwood. It was ticket to staying here. I planed to be at least a few years older than I already am for my ID.
"Okay, time to come up with a new name for you." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"Rose?" I asked.
"No. I knew a Rose once. Chose something else." He said.
"What about Casandra?" Owen said.
"No. I knew a Casandra who tried to take over the world." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"What about Samantha? I could go by Sam from time to time." I said.
"Okay that sounds good. Now what about a last name." Gwen said.
"Smith?"
"No. Too general." Toshiko said.
"Harper?" Ianto said. "I know Owen it is your last name, but we could make it seem as though she is your neice. I like the sound of it, Samantha Harper."
"I like the sound of that. What about you Katie?" Captain Jack Harkness said.
"Sounds good to me. Do I have to change my hair color, hair style, wardrobe?"
"Yes. That will be taken care of today. I thought that You, Gwen, and Toshiko could have a girls day. Take the afternoon off."
"But Jack, don't you need us?" Toshiko asked.
"We can take care of ourselves if anything happens." Captain Jack Harkness said. "Right guys?" He said nodding to Owen and Ianto.
"Yes." They both said.
"Now go have fun you three." Captain Jack Harkness said. Toshiko, Gwen, and I headed to Gwen's car. The first stop we went was an eye glass place to go pick out a pair of glasses that I needed to get. Owen had sent in the information already. It was hard picking out glasses. My head was so small that almost everything looked either too big, or too small on me. I had picked out a small pair of frames that were black around the glass and mint green along the sides.
"Looking good." Gwen said.
"I think now she needs a new hair style." Toshiko said.
We walked over to a hair salon that was a few blocks away. As Gwen was talking to the receptionist, I looked at myself in the mirror thinking. I looked at my long, light brown hair. It was wavy, mainly around my head, then it flattens out towards the bottom. I wasn't excited about changing my image at first, but I came to embrace it as I walked over to the chair and sat in it.
"I think she should get her hair cut short, straightened, and darken her hair a few shades." Gwen said to the hair stylist.
"I would have never thought of that." I said. "I was prepaired to go full on blonde. Or even red."
"No blonde or red for you." Gwen said. She and Toshiko went and sat down on the chairs that were by the front door. It was a total of two hours sitting in a chair, laying back as my hair is being washed, sitting as my hair is being cut, waiting around for my hair to finally be done coloring. Once finished. I looked at myself. I thought that this new haircut made me look older. It was slightly long in front and slightly shorter in back. The tip of my hair hung roughly an inch and a half past my ear. My hair was significantly darker. I loved it.
"Oh my gosh. I love it." Gwen said.
"Me too." I said.
"You look great." Toshiko said. We paid, and left. We drove to get some lunch. Pizza was everyone's favorite food at Torchwood. So we went to the regular pizza parlor that they ordered from. We just sat, talked and ate for a while. After pizza, we got back in the car, and drove back to Torchwood.
"She's here!" Gwen and Toshiko said excitedly as we walked the the door.
"Let's see it!" Captain Jack Harkness said. I came in confidently, no longer with crutches. I stood in front of everyone smiling. I heard Ohhs and Ahhs from everyone. "She kind of looks like me." Captain Jack Harkness said. "Come over here and stand by me." I walked over to him, and stood next him. He towered over me. He was about six feet tall. I was only five feet, two inches. "You're even wearing a navy blue shirt, black pants, and brown boots."
"I swear, this was just at random." I said. Everyone started laughing. I was now known as Jack's mini twin from that moment on.
"Now for the fun part. You need to learn to drive the English way. I realize it is completely different to America's way of driving, but in case there is an emergency, and you are the only one not injured. You need to know how to drive." Captain Jack Harkness said.
"Do you know how to fly?" I asked
"Yes, why?" Captain Jack Harkness asked me.
"Can you teach me? I have always wanted to learn how to fly." I said.
"Maybe when you are older." He said.
"She should wait until her glasses come in before she can drive. She needs to get her licence, and her new identity." Toshiko said.
"Good idea Toshiko." Captain Jack Harkness said.
