It's the last week of school. We won nationals and this was going to be the last week of glee club this year. I was kind of sad considering this was the last week as a national championship team that we will get to be together before our seniors all graduate.
Sebastian and I decided to go hang out at the karaoke restaurant since we haven't been there since he helped me prepare for Sectionals. It was a nice little reminder of the beginning of the year, you know?
We sat down at a table. We both finished our finals last week. This was just going to be an easy week for the both of us. We both began to flip through the menu.
"I forgot how they continuously change their menu." I commented.
"Well, I mean it adds a little mystery into the menu." He responded.
"Sebastian, I have never actually met your friends." I brought up.
"What makes you say that?" He looked up oddly.
"I'm saying the fact that you have never even mentioned any of your friends ever since we started dating." I explained.
"Well, if you really want to know... a few of my friends are Trent, Nick, Jeff.." he responded.
"What did you guys do after you didn't win regionals? Was glee club over for you?" I continued to ask questions.
"We hung out. Performed songs for fun." He shrugged.
"Wow, That seems... like a family." I stated.
"It's practically a brotherhood. Once a Warbler, always a Warbler." He added.
"Like I have heard that before." I said sarcastically.
"I know I don't talk about the Warblers often, but I mean they are some of my best friends." He reassured.
"I just feel bad that all we talk about my friends and what the new directions are up to." I responded.
"Don't feel bad. There is really nothing to report." He responds as he sips his water that he ordered.
"Uh huh. How do I know your not planning to take over all of the glee clubs in the state?" I raised my eyebrows.
"I turned over a new leaf remember?" He chuckled. "No bullying, blackmail, or assault."
"And how's that turning out for you?" I chuckled.
"Yeah, well, being nice sucks." He grumbled. "But there is this girl who makes it all worth it."
"Wow, we are very cheesy." I chuckled.
"Yeah," he nodded. Then the waitress came over and got our order.
"So I'm trying to sing something for glee club, and I don't really know what to sing." I brought up.
"What's Mr. Schyster have planned this week?" He incorrectly stated Mr. Shue's name.
"Mr. Schuester," I corrected. "Decided to make this whole goodbye lesson. The underclassmen have to say goodbye to the seniors and the seniors say goodbye to McKinley." I explained.
"Well, how about just singing a song about your adventures you have had with them?" He shrugged. "I don't know."
"Yeah, maybe." I sighed. "Speaking of senior year, and what not. We will both be seniors next year."
"It's just another year at Dalton," he responded.
"Oh come on, don't you get a senior ditch day and get the thrill of being at the top of the high school chain?" I reminded him.
"Well, since Dalton is a private school and his high standards up until graduation day, we don't have time for that." He commented.
"Okay, your school is sad." I stated.
"Eh, I like it. Gets me to where I need to be." He answered.
"Speaking of that... where are you going to be after high school?" I questioned.
"Well, I mean I was thinking Juilliard for musical theater otherwise NYU." He stammered on. "What about you?"
"I'm not really sure... I want to go out into the world and try to find myself. Maybe I'll figure it out senior year." I shrugged.
"Well, I'll support whatever you decide to do." He smirked.
"Aweeee, I love you." I kissed him.
"I love you. Thank you for being the inspiration behind music I sing every day in the warblers."
In that moment, I realized what song I should sing in glee club...
~The next day in Glee Club~
I stood in front of everyone in glee club. Everyone had their eyes on me.
"Winnie the Pooh said two things that I can think of that represents this moments. 'Goodbye...? Oh no, please. Can't we just go back and do it all over again.' He also said, 'How luck I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.'" I paused. "Freshman year, I was this girl who nobody knew. I wanted to fit in and do whatever I could to be in the popular crowd." I started off. "I never thought that some of you would come into my life. For example, Santana Lopez and her psychic Mexican third eye." I chuckled. "Noah Puckerman with his confidence. Rachel Berry with her voice. Kurt Hummel and his wardrobe. Mike Chang and his dance moves. Mercedes Jones with her sass." I continued. "Then, there was Finn Hudson who I have known for the longest time. I never thought this day would come and I would see his kind heart leave McKinley High School any day now." I sniffled. "Finally, there is Quinn Fabray, who was my only friend when I started this school, and she become my mentor and best friend. I'd like to simply say to all of our seniors, thank you for all of our memories and the music we made together these passed few years." I smiled trying to hold it together. Then the pianist started to play.
I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore
If I tell a joke, you've probably heard it before
But I have a talent, a wonderful thing
Cause everyone listens when I start to sing
I'm so grateful and proud
All I want is to sing it out loud
So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
She says I began to sing long before I could talk
But I've often wondered, how did it all start?
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart
Like a melody can?
Well, whoever it was, I'm a fan
So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair
I wanna sing it out to everybody
What a joy, what a life, what a chance!
So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to meAt the end of the song, all of the Senior came up and gave me a group hug. It's going to be weird without them, but these are the people who have snuck into my heart without me realizing it.
