"You have to leave!" I heard Rain hiss as I struggled to open my eyes from my nap.
"She's going to be mine, Athena. I'm in love with her and you can't stop me." A familiar voice replied and I, half asleep, wrapped thorns around him.
"Hermes, leave." I said groggily, rubbing my eyes and opening them. He looked terrible. He had, like, fifty bags under his eyes, each a shade of purple. He had scratches and bruises and scabs (oh my!) all over and it almost made me pity him. Almost.
"Demeter's daughter, don't do this to me. I am destined to love you. Maybe you can defy fate and leave the god you're supposed to be with." Volant said, glaring at Athena. His voice dripped with despair and desperation.
"I mean, I'd probably at least let you live here," I paused, watching his face light up. "But you tried to kill me. I don't trust you. You're the god of thieves." I glared at him, crossing my arms as he made blue puppy dog eyes at me.
"Please take me back!"
"Never! Now leave before I tighten the thorns around you." I turned away then whipped him out the door. I sighed. Rain laid a hand on my shoulder.
"I know. You did good, though." She shot me a half-smile which made me smile, too.
"Thanks." I turned around and gave her a hug, trying not to think about how weird my life was. But at least I had my best friend...who was starting to feel more than a friend.
"Why did Volant glare at you when he said that I should leave the god I was supposed to be with?" I asked, pulling back a little. She turned red, her grey-blue eyes looking right at mine.
"When I told you the prophecy, I kinda only told you half. See, I'm the goddess you're supposed to be with."

I sat on the floor, sketching. Frustrated, I threw the pencil on the ground then pinched the bridge of my nose. I was kinda mad at Rain for not telling me this. It was weird, having at least most of your life planned out. But me being with her forever means-
"You're pretty much already immortal, since you've been blessed by a titan." Rain said, braiding my hair as I turned the channels of the tv.
"That's kinda scary." I murmured, settling on Full House reruns.
"Yeah. You have regular blood, since you're half human, but the only thing that can make you die is a shot to the heart." She continued messing with my hair.
"Cool."
"I know, right? You just have to eat ambrosia every time you're around one of the Big Three, as we gods say."
"Big Three?" As I said this, Rain put my hair down just to roll her eyes. I smiled a little.
"You know. Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. The major ones. We did study Greek Mythology in eighth grade."
"That's why you got a hundred on all of the things and got mad when someone disrespected the gods!" I said with sudden realization. She laughed then picked my hair back up.
"True. Anyway. Most of the gods are trying to help us, as you can see from Hestia lending us her place. But some gods want you to perish so that the world is in ruin." Rain said sadly, scooting to sit by me. I laid my head on her shoulder.
"Man, life is crazy." I murmured and her shoulders shook from her laughter.
"You haven't been alive for many millennia. You do not know how many mortals tried to woo me." She giggled, flipping through her iPhone.
"Oh, geez." I muttered, imagining a guy in a toga playing a harp at the bottom of a tower with Rain at the top.
"Yeah. I'm often portrayed as I am now, so I'm surprised how many mortals I've fooled." She said quietly, laying her head on top of mine.
"Today was wild."
"Yeah. You should see Dionysus when he's had too much Root Beer. It makes him more drunk than anything else." Rain laughed.
"Wait. So am I eventually going to meet the Big Twelve?" I asked, thinking about me being on Mount Olympus.
"Yeah. You are pretty much a god." She answered.
"At least I'll be able to spend a long time with you." I smiled. She nodded, then put an arm around me, lifting her head then kissing my forehead.
"I'd be happy with that."
