The sun broke through the blinds, waking me up way too early. As soon as the sleep faded and the memories returned, I got up and packed what little stuff I had. Well, the house had clothes my size in the closet, so I packed those, too.
"Ready?" Rain asked, probably still upset about yesterday. I nodded.
"Where are we going to go, though?" I wondered aloud as she grabbed her own suitcase and started to go.
"Uh, somewhere in New Mexico, since the gods and everything think we're not leaving." She murmured, mostly to herself.
"Okay. Let's go." I nodded, trying to give her encouragement with my energy, but it failed. We stood outside and Rain snapped. A chariot with navy blue and green owls carved in the side appeared in front of us, the golden wheels sparkling.
"That's awful suspicious for someone who thinks we should stay hidden." I told her, a small smile playing along my lips.
"Ugh. Okay." Rain half-grumbled, then snapped again. The chariot changed to a gold Jeep with blue and green swirls and black wheels.
"That's better." I grinned, hopping in the passenger's seat.
"What are you doing? I don't know how to drive." Rain complained, climbing behind the steering wheel.
"You're Athena; you'll learn." I told her and she sighed reluctantly.
"Fine. But don't expect me to be good at this." She slowly pulled out of the driveway then jerked to a stop while a car passed. I could already tell this would be....a lot.
"This isn't that bad!" She smiled as she continued stomping on both the pedals.
"Okay, Okay. I'll drive."
"Nope. This is fun." Rain stuck her tongue out at me then started driving. This would be a long drive.
~~~~~Eight hours later~~~~~
Rain pulled into the driveway of a small house with snow and icicles dancing along the top. I smiled as I looked at the pretty trees that had snow decorating them as well.
"We're here."
"Yeah, I can see. That drive was worth it." I said, opening the door and stepping into ice, almost falling.
"Okay, so this is Hestia's place for when she's not worshipped for a while." Rain explained, helping me up then grabbing both our bags. We walked inside and I immediately felt comfortable. There was a little fireplace and a small suede recliner by it.
"This is so cute!" I gushed, running a hand over the oak table in the nearby kitchen.
"I know, right? There's only one bed, so I'll sleep on the floor." She said, walking into a room and placing the bags on the floor.
"Nope. You're a goddess, so I'll sleep on the floor." I reasoned, already finding a blanket. She yielded, knowing she had no choice.
"Fine. Whatever. We just have to take special measures to make sure this house is..." Rain trailed off after she checked a brick of a phone that was in her pocket.
"What?" I asked, grabbing the bag of Doritos and walking to the tv.
"Umm I don't know how to say this." She shuddered as I turned it on.
"Whammt?" I repeated, mouth full.
"...Hades sent the Furies to find you. So far, they're in Canada. But they move fast. We have about two weeks until they're a state away." Rain whispered, cautious.
"Aw, come ON! We just got here!" I scowled, dusting my fingers off.
"Welp, the only other way is going to Olympus and offering your blood to Zeus or asking him to make sure you're safe wherever you travel. That way, you'll be safe. But he lies and tricks, so we never know." She told me, snatching the bag and eating some herself. (Sorry I was hungry when I wrote this.)
"UGHHH." I groaned. There was no way I was going on another trip. But I had to.
"Fine. In twelve days." I told her, then settled in for a nap.
