Grey clouds is what greeted me the moment I stepped out of my black Mercedes s class. I don't know why the sight was so surprising. The town is known for our constant cloud cover, hidden in the valley of a large mountain range. Yet, I was praying for a change. What for? Perhaps I was hoping that the last glint of sunlight would act as a reminder of the small taste of freedom as summer ends. That it would serve as the light I would glance back on as I enter through the heavy oak doors of this over posh school I attend, a reminder that there was something more out there than this place I am stuck in.

Sighing, I swing my heavy brown leather messenger bag over my shoulder as I breath in the crisp air around me. Another tell-tale sign of the impending fall months we are about to enter. I stare out to the wall of evergreens that surround the back of school, contemplating if I could hide in it's dark depths till the end of the school day. Yet, I am quickly distracted as a long slim arm interrupts my view and I quickly turn to my friend, the queen of school gossip, Eliza with a large grin.

"Eleanor! Have you heard?" Her overexcited piercing brown eyes look at me through her black square rimmed glasses.

"As I have just arrived, I'm not sure I have acquired new information you so desperately want to give me" I reply sarcastically as I watch an annoyed frown pass over her features. We have been friends since middle school, and she is still annoyed with the fact I never cared for gossip.

"Not the time el" she grabs my arms and hushes her voice as tilts her head to the other corner of the parking lot where as I noticed many gazes from our classmates are lingering. Some of awe, jealousy, or distrust. "See the new kids?"

Turning my head in the direction, I look in the direction she is pointing out. Feeling myself freeze as I spot the group of impossibly beautiful people. Looking over them, I make out a familiar faces as some being the girls that came to the store not too long ago. It was one pair of eyes that had me instantly enamoured, causing my feet to stop. Those swirling depths of pure gold with a strange undertone of emotion hidden.

As we stopped moving Eliza looks over the family with me, not noticing who I was stuck on.

"That's the Cullen and Hale family. They are from what my mom was saying the adoptive children of Dr. And Mrs. Cullen. From what I can tell, the tall blond girl and the other blond are the Hale twins from Mrs. Cullens sister who died. The other four are orphans that Dr. Cullen adopted that were placed in the same home with the Hale children" she explains to me, some of the information coming through to me.

"Oh?" I murmur as he finally looks away from me, allowing me to break away and observe the rest of the teens standing around him.

"But get this" Eliza turns me to turn her as we continue to walk towards the doors. The morning bell ringing and causing everyone to make their way inside.

"The tall blonde girl and the buff guy, oh and that Auburn haired tall one and that small dark haired one, not the pixie cut. Are together!" I look at her in surprise.

"Together?"

"Yeah! Isn't that weird?" I shrug and turn back to the watch the family as we make our ways through the doors.

"What about the others?" I inquire as I make eye contact with melted gold before I turn back to her.

"Not sure yet" she hums as we make our way to homeroom. Inside, it both related and frightened me at the prospect of him being single.

The first half of the morning just seemed to drag. First math, taking junior pre-calc for first in the morning is just pure torture. Then the next class my designer class which I strangely had with Alice whom sat with me in class, who surprisingly knew what to do for a class for an advanced class. Our tastes in fashion made us instant friends. The third class was biology who I shared with the tall Auburn haired Cullen and the dark haired Cullen who seemed to just want to make googily eyes at each other the whole time.

Finally it was lunch, and I selected a baby spinach salad with dried cranberries and feta cheese, another strange bonus of a ridiculously posh high school. Actual "fresh" food. I turn to head to my usual spot, when a rushing blur passes in front of me,causing me to nearly crash into my best friend.

To avoid my lunch tray smashing a unique design into my shirt, I tilt backward, too far. Instantly loosing my balance, I am saved by someone with cool hands that steady me.

"What the hell Connor?" I yell at the blur that I now recognize as my irresponsible best friend who just rushes by with a quick sorry. Shaking my head, I turn to thank my savior and am instead met with a chiseled jaw that could make the greatest artists cry in envy.

"I'm so sorry. He's such an idiot" he smiles at this as he pushes a strand of golden tresses behind his ear. The move alone sped up the speed of my already erratic pulse of just being in proximity of him.

"No problem. It's not every day I can save a damsel in distress" that slight accent mixed with a crooked grin just stopped all train of thought as I sit there thinking of a response. Seeing my state, he steps back and waves a pale hand.

"Well I better be going now..." he turns to leave.

"T-thank you..." I mutter out pathetically as my brain caught up as soon as those molten gold eyes looked away from me. Not expecting him to have heard me, I see him look over his shoulder and a smirk crosses his face. The only acknowledgment he heard me as he continues to walk away to his family that I now see sitting at a table in the corner of the cafeteria. All their hypnotic and strange eyes still staring in our direction.

Breathing deep, I turn my eyes to my salad as warmth spreads across my cheeks.

"Oh Eleanor, what have we gotten ourselves into?" I mutter to myself.
