Author: so I am itching to go back and edit this book like nobody's business. There are some parts where I need more time to develop the storyline (meaning I'll need additional chapters for it). But, I want to follow through and finish this first. There are not many chapters left. I do want to have a what's going on in the future chapter after the epilogue since the ending is going to have like a major wtf moment. Like stuff is gonna hit the fan guys. I hope you are prepared for the rollercoaster you will board.
Puffs of air escape my mouth as I make my way back to the house. My mind is reeling, trapped within my skull as everything I was just told is processing. Glancing down at my watch, I see that it is close to 5. The sun was beginning to set in 30 minutes.
Arriving back to the house, I rush over to where I left my phone earlier. Grabbing it, my keys, and a jacket, I run outside to my car. Throwing open the door, i insert my key and quickly turn it on. I pause on before shifting the engine. My first instinct was to go to him. But I knew that as soon as I saw him, my thoughts would instead be filled with the what ifs that is our relationship. Deciding on something else, I shift to drive.
I drive to the one place I needed to think. I know that I was itching to call the one person who would understand and not think this whole entire situation wasn't as screwed up as is. But I knew, this was something I needed.
And what I needed was space.
...
Arriving to the wide field, a sigh leaves my lips. This is where it all began that last lingering night of summer. Before senior year began and I was planning my get away. Before the weird golden lights appeared. Before he came into my life and showed me that being different was not the worst thing in the world.
So much has changed and yet, so much is the same. No strange magical healing ability is going to change the fact that I am Eleanor Jameason. That I was raised by one parent who is a kick butt woman who is always standing strong. That I may be in love with a person who understands me inside and out, who knows what I need with a single look. That I, Eleanor Jameason, am not one to balk at the first sign of fear.
Sitting on the trunk of my car, I stare out over the field. The once tall grass now lays flat from the heavy rain. A light fog plays across the space. The air smells of moss and dirt.
I am as grounded to this spot, the connection to it all. My connection to the town I've lived in my whole life. It's not like it's a horrible town, nor is it boring. I just wished I can travel the world. I always dreamed of becoming a traveling author, writing about the places she sees. Or, as I dive into the fashion world, go to Milan and watch a runway.
Looking at the darkening sky, I am at a loss as to what to say. So instead of dwelling on the uncontrollable aspect of my myself, I grab my guitar.
Strumming light, I play a slow song. Closing my eyes, I play through memory as my fingers play over the vibrating strings. Each note echoing into the space before me. Covering up the last moments of sunshine, with the soft tunes of a country song.
