It was truly incredible. That morning we woke up and I saw the tint of pink of the surprisingly tan skin of Jasper Whitlock. His eyes were now a honey brown, a color so sweet that every time I look into them I think of endless love songs.
We were amazed and in love that we didn't leave that bed. We discovered new things and connected on a level we were never able to do before. So wrapped up that I didn't know where I began and where he ended.
So wrapped up we forgot that there were other people in the world. It wasn't until the frantic knocking on our hotel door did we realize that there was a world outside of us. That and our stomachs decided to finally awaken as the knocking continues.
Jasper is the one that finally moves. He slowly gets out of bed. His golden tanned skin moves smoothly over the muscles on his back. The scars of his past seemingly had disappeared with his rebirth as a human. It was like he never became a vampire. The color returned to his skin from his time as a human in old time Texas. His hair a true unruly mess of curls that his vampire genes used to keep control of. He was beautiful and my eyes seemed incapable of leaving him. He turns back as he grabs a robe to cover his exposed body and smirk graces his lips.
"Keep staring like that and you'll find yourself in trouble yet again." His accent tints his playful words. His eyes warm as they trace the bare skin of shoulder as it peaks out of the white sheets.
I quirk an eyebrow as I allow the sheet to fall a little lower over my back as I face him fully. A teasing smile on my lips as we both decide to ignore the still insistent knocking. "Oh yeah? Y'know your threats don't scare me. I do like to get in trouble." His eyes darken slightly as his breath catches in his throat lightly.
He opens his mouth to reply, when a cracking of wood sounds in the quiet space as light footsteps are heard. Turning, they both recognize the black pixie cut with soft curls surrounding her pale face.
She seems to freeze on the spot as her mouth falls open, her golden eyes widen in shock as she stares at the both of us.
"So...its true." She finally breaths out.
Jasper looks confused as he stares at his adoptive sister.
"What do you mean?" He gets the sense she had something she was hiding when he was still a vampire. Now as a human, he can still faintly tell she had something to say. Yet, instead of his power telling him, it felt more like his gut.
"Well, I thought at first it was just visions of your past. Not until last night did I finally connect the pieces."
Jasper falls silent at that. I sit on the bed with the covers around me. The shock of Alice's sudden arrival and the confusing conversation has me shifting uncomfortably on the bed. The small rustling sound seems to draw Alice's golden eyes to me on the bed. Her expression does not show anything as she sends me a small smile.
"Perhaps we should go somewhere else to talk. I'll give you guys a moment to get ready."
She leaves the room, shutting the damaged door behind her. My eyes drift back to Jasper who is now watching me silently. I raise an eyebrow as he smiles and chuckles lightly as he walks forward to help me off the bed.
Curious, I grab the robe he holds out to me. "What are you laughing about?"
"Nothing, just feel like she knew about this longer than just last night."
Confused, I take his white sweater to pull over my black dress from the day before. Ruffling a hand through my immense bedhead, I try to fix the knots that formed after spending so much time in bed. Jasper eventually comes over to help me with my hair, his long tan fingers help and my eyes gaze up into his face.
He looks away from my hair as his brown honey eyes stare back into my own as his lips twitch lightly. Eventually they work their magic and my hair calms down. His hand drifts to cup my cheek and I lean into his warm touch. A sensation I am still struggling to get used to.
We stand silently as we gaze at each other, his hand on my cheek and my own clutched in his other. I'm not sure what he sees in my eyes, but I know what I see.
Endless love.
"Despite how much I would rather throw you back into that bed and never leave the confines of this room. We better get going before Alice comes back in."
I smile at his words and we separate. Keeping our hands interlocked as we head outside the warm room we stayed in. My heart filled with a hope I had never felt before. As if my entire being vibrates in hope, I knew our future had just began.
...
Talking with Alice later on who revealed she knew the moment Jasper met me that it was destiny in the making. She wasn't sure what our future held other than the sense of immense happiness.
Telling his family came next, and they were all quite shocked by Jasper's human-self. They quickly accepted it though, glad to see that the man was truly happy for the first time. He never wanted to be a vampire from the very beginning, but he would never take it back. For if he never became one, he would have never met the woman who made him feel whole.
And I would never take any of it back.
For he was my warm winter night.
And I was the sunshine on his rainy days.
And it was the beginning of our destiny,
Our unforgettable love.
