I waited patiently outside the school with Michael, making small talk as we waited for the others. "So, what movie are we going to go see?" Michael asked, making me realize I had not planned this out. "Is that Spiderman movie still out?" Michael shrugged. "Guess we'll find out." As Michael and I bantered about movie options Kerry and Gavin came out. "Hey, Y/N! Ready to go?" I turned to Kerry who had a smile spread across his face.
"Someones in a good mood," I said as they stopped in front of us. "Yeah, Gavin and I got a lot of catching up done and now I'm looking forward to the movie." He smiled again, it was nice to see him so happy. I thought back to that night finding him drunk and depressed. I sighed and sadly smiled. "Let's get a move on before everything sells out!" Michael nodded and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, guiding me to his car. "Are we all just going in your car?"
He shrugged again. "I guess we can always get our cars in the morning." I hoped in the passenger side seat, sinking into the familiar leather. Gavin and Kerry squeezed in the back together, almost sitting on each other's laps. Michael started up ol' Bessie and we got going to the nearest cinema. Michael remained silent through the drive and I just listened in on Gavin and Kerry's conversation. "You moved around a shit load huh?"
Kerry asked Gavin. Gavin firmly nodded, sinking into his chair. "Well, first I lived out in Canada as a toddler. Then I lived in America until I was about 12, then I moved to Australia and stayed there until I was about 15, then I went back to Canada until I was 18 and now I'm here." Gavin let out a breath after his long sentence. "His story matches up with mine, meaning he is the Gavin I remember." "So, where have you been this whole time Kerry?"
Kerry laughed awkwardly. "It's a long story." My mind flew to the photo of him on the farm with his family, or what I could assume was his family. "We're here." Michael interrupted their conversation, bringing the car to a halt in a recently vacant parking space. I got out of the car, making sure not to fall. Michael made his way around the car to escort me to the theatre while Kerry and Gavin, yet again, stayed behind us talking away.
I only hoped they'd shut up during the movie, they were starting to make me jealous. Michael made his way to the ticket booth while I stayed behind rubbing my hands together in an attempt to stay warm. Gavin walked up to me not saying a word as he passed me a beanie. "What's this for?" I gently took it from his hand. "To stay warm." I smiled, putting it on. "Uhh, thank you, Gavin." He nodded turning around before stopping and turning back to me.
"That looks nice...on you." He smiled slightly before turning back around. "Awkard as ever." I was smiling to myself when Michael tapped my shoulder. "I got the tickets." He said, earning my attention. "Spicy, what are we watching?" He flashed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse tickets in my face. "Fucking epic, let's hit it." I waved at the boys to follow as we walked into the theatre to be greeted by an old man. "Tickets?" Michael handed our tickets to him.
The man, who's named appeared to be Stan, examined the tickets, giving a hearty laugh. "Enjoy your movie!" He handed our tickets to us and smiled. I felt like I knew him from somewhere, but I couldn't pinpoint from where. I shrugged it off and followed Michael deeper into the cinema. We finally reached our destination, hands filled with snacks and drinks. Trailers flashed on the large screen as we took our seats, sitting in the far back. "What do you think of Gavin?"
I asked Michael as he set his recliner. "He's alright, I don't know him that well though." I nodded turning back to the screen. I could see him out of the corner of my eye, slowly munching away at some popcorn. "Only a matter of time till he remembers me. I don't want to pull a Michael and force him to remember me."
As I sat there thinking, the theatre went black, insinuating the movie was about to start. Everyone went hush as Marvel flashed on the screen. "Goodbye diet," I said to myself as I dug my hand into the popcorn while sinking into the chair, ready to enjoy life's greatest pleasure, staring at a screen for 2 hours.
