Ultimatley, Change Is Always Bad

I woke up, surprisingly happy it was Monday. For the first time in a very long time, I had started enjoying going to school. This morning, Alyssa was passed out in the living room I just assumed that I'd be driving myself to school. When I walked outside I was surprised to see Michael waiting in his car. "Hey, what are you doing here?" I said walking up to the driver side window. "I thought I'd give you a ride to school."

I just rolled my eyes as I jumped into the car. "Well you're not very appreciative are ya?" I laughed. "I'm just kidding Michael, thank you." He furrowed his eyebrows. "You're being weird today, what's going on?"
I laughed nervously and scratched the back of my neck. "No, nothing at all." He obviously noticed something was up but knew I wasn't in the mood to talk about it. "Well, anyway, I have great news!"

I put my phone down and looked at him. "What's good?" He pointed to the glove box while still looking at the road. I opened it up to find a packet of papers. "What's this?" "Just open it." I started flipping through the pages and saw the word lease printed in bold letters across the top. "Michael! Does this mean-" "Yes, I finally got my own apartment!" He interrupted me practically jumping in his seat.

I smiled brightly thinking of us being able to hang out together alone in his new apartment. He put his car in park and got out. I jumped up to Michael giving him a big hug. "I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to see it." He smiled as I let go and started walking towards the school. "Yeah, I was planning on going to see it again after school. Wanna come?" I nodded my head.

We walked through the main doors and could see Kerry standing across at the water fountain. I waved to him and he started walking over. "Hey guys, did you hear?" Michael and I looked at each other quizzically. "You guys really haven't heard about the new kid?" We both shook our heads. Kerry opened his mouth to speak but the bell rung. "Well, I guess I'll see you guys at lunch, maybe you'll see the new guy in one of your classes."

He waved goodbye as he made his way down the hallway. Michael and I started walking the opposite way to English. "So, what do you think this new guy is going to be like?" Michael asked me. "Hopefully very hot and very single." Michael laughed and opened the door to the class and when I looked up I almost dropped my shit. "Oh my god..." I whispered to Michael. "What, do you know him?" "Know him? That's my best friend from primary school."
