I looked down as Natemare stood, eyeing the two of us."I thought you ran away," he said calmly, making me aware he was talking to Dark.
Dark let out a sigh, stepping away from me and clearing his throat. "I have nowhere to really run off to, Nate," he stated, his eyes locked on Nate.
"Touché. Figured you would come here, since it's your throne room after all," Nate continued, stepping down the stairs and making his way toward us.
"What do you need?" Dark questioned, raising his hands and adjusting his tie.
"I heard some loud noise in the bunker.. knew it had to be one of you. I'm not shocked to see that Anti came following you along here," he explained, finishing off with an eye roll.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Woah, what got your panties in a twist with him? What happened between you two?" Dark asked, resting his hands to his hips."The fucker broke my staff, threw a bookshelf on me, insulted me and shit.. he's s piece of trash."
My jaw hung low, my brows furrowed.
"I'm right here, you know that right?" I bellowed, stepping closer to Nate.He shrugged. "Don't you see what you did to me? What came over you, huh?"
"My geo did that! You should know of all people here that I wouldn't do that, the geo would!" I argued, fists clenching."Oh, using your abilities as an excuse now? Geos haven't been able to control its possessor since millennia's ago," he replied as he crossed his arms.
"Natemare, my geo controlled me! I didn't even know how to do that shouting ability until it did it for me, besides, I would never hurt you! Can't you see that?!" I uttered.
Dark stood between us two and interjected.
"Wait, you're saying your own geo has been controlling your abilities?" He pondered, squinting in confusion.I nodded. "Not all, just that weird shouting one that releases rings from my own mouth.. the others have been in my control."
Dark nodded slightly, thinking to himself.
"There's no way that geo is able to control you.. none of them should have that power anymore," Nate spoke.
I sighed, shrugging.
"Maybe the geo Dark gave me was one from millennia's ago?"Dark groaned, losing concentration on his thoughts. "I mean, it's possible.. I had no use for that bunker until you came here. And for Felix's geo, too. Those two were the only ones left, so it might've been possible."
All three of us connected eyes, aware that Natemare's predictions might have been wrong.
"If that is a geo that can control your powers.. it's a pretty powerful one. I'm genuinely shocked it hasn't taken you over completely.. but I'm glad it didn't," Dark stated with a coy smile.A grimace formed on my face, but I shook it away, knowing the geo was listening.
"Do you forgive me Nate? I didn't mean to hurt you in any way," I spoke, abruptly switching topics. He eyed me down and sighed.
"I guess I have to. It wasn't under your control. But I'm still pissed at my staff breaking."I bit my lip at the sudden mention, shrinking. My posture straightened as I felt Dark's hands hold onto my shoulders from behind, gripping onto me in a gentle squeeze.
"Well, who says it can't be fixed? I'm sure with your knowledge and this castles library that we can get it back to normal."
I turned, smiling at him. Nate let out another sigh, nodding.
"I suppose we can fix it, then. But if that idiotic geo of Anti's breaks it again, I will throw hands."I laughed and Dark did as well, while Nate made his way out of the throne room. We both met eyes and smiled.
"We'll figure out what to do with this geo of yours," he assured me with a wink before walking past me, hurrying out with Nate.
With a final look of Mark's bat form statue, I sighed happily and walked out with them.
☿
Nate ran his finger down a spine to a book, furrowing his brows.
"Literally none of these are for broke staffs. Am I the only demon here that uses the damn thing?" He asked, keeping his eyes locked on the bookshelf in front of him.Dark bent down, eyeing Natemare through one of the shelfs that held an empty space from the other side of the aisle.
"I don't think you are, or were. I never used one though.. I'm not classy enough, I presume," he joked, standing back up and eyeing some more books.
"I just use it mainly for the additional sexy look. Chicks dig when I put my hands on the orb and smirk," Nate stated willingly, gazing off at the roof.
I laughed at his statement as I sat atop the bookshelf, looking down at the him.
"Sure Nate, sure. Anyway, do you really even need books for this? Can't you fix it with your smartness or something?"Nate growled, looking up at me.
"No, books aren't usually needed. But when my staff's main core is shattered, I need books, since I never thought I'd need to study the topic," he finished off with a cold glare.I rolled my eyes at him, dropping my stare and watched as Dark smoothly walked out of the aisle ahead and up to another row of bookshelves against the wall, towering over the other ones.
He perked his head up, squinting at the books above, which were unevenly stacked with one another. One was a rusted copper color, which caught my eyes as I followed his gaze at it.
He shrugged, letting his wings erupt from his back, lifting him off the ground with a few flaps. He met the top of the shelf, observing the odd-colored book.
As I watched him stare at it for a short moment, he turned his head, shouting at Nate, across the room now.
"Hey, this might be it," he said.
Nate turned, sighing and making his way over.Dark took it out from the stack, dust collecting in the air. With a shake of his head, he tossed it down into Nate's arms. I crooked an eyebrow, hopping off the bookshelf and landing behind Nate.
I looked over his shoulder as he brushed his finger over the title and read it aloud,
"'Cores Breaking & Souls Departing'?"I glared at the 'Souls Departing' part, keeping quiet. Dark met the floor as his wings vanished, walking over to us.
"So? Is that it?" He questioned, eyeing Natemare.
I stepped back as he tucked the book under his arm, nodding. "I assume so.. cores breaking is basically related to the power function of a demon's scepter or relic breaking, and my staff was one of the said, so.."
I rolled my eyes again at the useless information, chuckling as Dark and I met eyes.
"Well, I'll get right to fixing my staff. And thankfully I will be away from Anti," he scoffed.I glared at him. "Get over it, I can't control this geo thing."
He shrugged, and with a snap of his fingers, his broken staff summoned above his palm, falling into it from the air. He walked off after, straight out of the library.
Wait, I needed that book too. That departing mention seemed to vivid to be a coincidence for my situation, and I desperately needed it.
I began to follow after Nate until Dark called out from behind, "Anti! Where are you going?"
I murmured, watching as Nate vanished beyond a corner. "Just.. wanna get some fresh air outside," I chuckled.
"I can come with, show you the ruins around here. It's pretty cool, like a bluff," he said, walking toward me.
"Erm.. I'm alright right now, really gotta go.. vomit," I lied, my face grimacing at the idiotic 'confession'.
Dark gave me an odd stare, nodding. "Okay.. you go do that. I'll be in here, these books seem quite efficient."
I nodded, quickly hurrying out of the library, darting my head down the corner Nate disappeared to. Multiple rooms were aligning each side of the hallway, making me grunt.
I'm finding Nate.
