"This is my boyfriend, Rylan." Skid nodded and looked Rylan up and down. He glanced over at me with an evil smirk on his face. "Olivia. What are you doing bringing the goonies down here?" Skid asked. "Skid. He's not a goonie alright? Leave us alone." I grabbed Rylan's hand and walked away. "What's a "goonie"?" Rylan asked quietly. I peeked over my shoulder to make sure that they weren't following us, "That's the Riverdogs term for city boy." I said walking into Bob's gas station. "Hey Bob!" I said as I walked back to the cooler and grabbed a Gatorade. "How's your Ma?" Bob replied shouting through the store. "Good I guess. I spoke with an officer but I haven't seen her yet." Rylan looked at me puzzled. "Do you want anything?" I asked with a chuckle. "Uh...no...I'm fine."

I walked up to the counter and took out my wallet. "It's on my today." Bob said with a crooked grin. "Aye thanks man." I said and walked away. "Let me know when you hear from your Ma!" Bob yelled as we walked out of the store. I threw a thumbs up at him and walked out. "So how do you know him?" Rylan asked as we walked down a back alley. "Old family - friend. Dad knew him growing up and I've known him ever since." Rylan nodded and tried to take in all of the information about the south side of our town. We headed over to the store, our original destination, and did our thing there. We walked out with what we needed and headed home.
