(Chapter 21) Dave or Jasper? [The Obvious Choice.]

"You Did What?" Scream Annie, who is sitting on the bed besides Nicole.

She couldn't believe her friend would fall for that ass hat Dave's words again.

Especially after he practically kicked her out when she had no place to go and was pregnant with his possible child.

"I know I'm stupid! But you should have heard his voice over the phone it sounded so sad." She whined, placing her hand over her face in embarrassment.

"So what?! I'm sure you sounded so sad too when he gave your ass the boot out of his house pregnant and homeless." Annie snapped.

"Geez! OKAY, I KNOW I KNOW!!!" Nicole snapped, annoyed at Annie.

Annie eyes her in confusion, wondering what her best friend endgame is here.

"Nicole, what are you really doing? Are you trying to ruin the good life you have going for yourself?" Annie asked, really worried.

"No! I-I'm trying to make sense of it all!" Nicole responds.

"Make sense of what?" Annie asks, confused.

"Everything! My life. It just did a whole fucking three sixty turn! One minute I'm bitchy with an attitude, dating a asshole like Dave with only having to worry about sluts coming on to him." She paces and rants.

"And then out of nowhere I'm knocked up with twin girls by possibly someone I barely know! or this baby could be Dave's I'm not sure anymore. I'm homeless and I'm finally understanding and respecting poor folk! I mean four to five months ago my life was normal. And now? It's confusing." She answers.

Annie stare at the sadden look on Nicole's face before she pulls her friend into a side hug.

"Well what life would you prefer? The one before? When things were more shallow and you were living like how your parents wanted you to, with fake friends minus me of course and needing to rely on them?...Or the one where your eyes are more opened to others around you, with this sweet stranger you barely know is really there for you in your time of need, and you shaped yourself up into your own woman?" Annie ask.

Nicole eyes stare off with far away expression. Her life in the past was simple strict but cool family for the most part, school, fake friends but friends, boyfriend, sex, and money.

But now? Her life will be kids, work, bills, maybe love, and friends, with new family. The easier life or the more rewarding one?

Then there is Dave and Jasper! who will be a better choice?

Dave who she had years of history with romantically and friendship wise! Who ran when things got too tough and too under pressure for him?

Or Jasper a guy she just met not long ago! But knows everything about her in and out. Who made it his mission to get her everything she wanted in the past in secret despite not having the big bucks to pay for it.

When he found out she was pregnant possibly with his kid, he hopped on it instantly to do all the things a father should to make sure she was good instead of buckling under heavy pressure! He bared the weight on his shoulder.

This is a no brainer who was the better choice here.

"Jasper!" Nicole says out loud.

"What?" Annie ask confused.

"Jasper! I choose Jasper." She reply.

Annie face twists into a smile knowing what her answer was.

"Then stop looking for reason to hang onto the past." Annie responds.
