Picking my dress up by my skirt, I take off in a full sprint

Picking my dress up by my skirt, I take off in a full sprint. I'm running towards where I heard the scream come from -- where I hope Autumn is.

"Noah!" Caiden shouts after me.

But, I don't stop. I can't stop, not when I know Autumn is in trouble.

Caiden seems to realize this, because after a moment I hear his heavy footfalls behind me. He's coming after me, and in the moment, I'm grateful. I might need his help, his man-power, if worst comes to worst.

As we run, I realize that we're headed towards the baseball fields. There's nothing else in this direction -- nothing else on the north side of Elysian's campus. Autumn has to be on one of the fields; her voice was clear enough to confirm that she's outside.

I reach a tall chain link fence. I've never been to the baseball fields, either for leisure or to watch a game, and so I'm not familiar with the area.

"How do I get in?!" I whirl around, finding Caiden in the dark.

"Uh - there's a gate on the side. It's probably locked, but it's shorter. We can hop over." He recognizes the urgency in my voice and is smart enough to get straight to the point. Turning, he jogs around the perimeter of the fence.

"Is this the only field?"

"No, there's the practice field, but it's nearby."

Finally, we reach the gate. While Caiden climbs over and hops down on the other side pretty easily, it takes me longer to scramble up the netted wire. My dress catches multiple times, but I have no time for delicacy; I pull until the fabric tears but at least I'm free.

Caiden helps me down, and then we're off once again. He leads me onto the inner field, but even from the home side dugout, I can tell that nobody's here. A few of the stadium lights are on, running on a back generator, and they dimly illuminate the space.

"Take me to the practice field." I turn to catch Caiden's arm, clutching the sleeve of his suit jacket. "Quickly, Caiden!"

He doesn't hesitate. Taking off in another direction, Caiden leads me to yet another fence. Luckily, although this one made of smooth wooden panels, it happens to be unlocked.
