Chapter 31 - A New Reality

There was a distant siren as police vehicles and ambulances drove to their destination. Where that destination was the figure did not know, nor did he care. He was too focused on the TV in front of him displaying the most recent headline. It was midnight now, the moon and darkness outside the only illumination into the darkened factory. The headline was the least expected thing the figure had anticipated, and his single glowing red eye zoomed in and shrank back as he read every single word, making sure he'd seen it right. He was not wrong, nor did his eye piece have any deficiencies. Zayne had almost single handedly destroyed the entire city with that one punch, and in the process stopped Damien and revealed to the world what kind of situation they were in. The figure felt a sort of relief rush over him at the reveal of this news. He was for whatever reason calm about the situation presented to him now. Then again he wasn't programmed with emotions either, although somehow they'd managed to wiggle their way into his thoughts.

If Zayne believed he had saved himself from his assassin, he was sorely mistaken. His reveal had simply turned the silent killing into a publicity act. The world would love Zayne and adore him so much, only to have him taken away in an instant when the android came. The robot laughed at his own description of the event. How should he reveal the incident? A worldwide public message? Live feed of the entire killing? A note mailed to the government? There were so many options that had been laid on the table for the android to consider now that secrecy was out of the window. There was something else now too that the android had to think about. Arachnid had even stated himself that he wasn't much of a sneaky individual. His powers would certainly beg to differ, but the android had seen Arachnid in the open compared to his stealth abilities. Arachnid was much stronger when he wasn't trying to be quiet about the event. This gave way to an amazing new opportunity for Arachnid to kill Zayne. Maybe even that Thunder Fang individual could get in on the action.

Perhaps it was the confidence that now he wasn't going to have to be the one to reveal it to the world. This made it easier on him to simply get in, kill Zayne, and get out. Without the worry of keeping it a secret he wouldn't have to hold back anything. The robot allowed a mechanical chuckle to escape his voice box. In not holding back anything from himself, Zayne had written his own destruction. Now that the cat was out of the bag Zayne was setting himself up for certain defeat. Good. Again, this all made it easier for the robot to fulfil his assignment. In the end he would be victorious no matter how strong Zayne became, it was just a matter of how much he would have to sacrifice to defeat Zayne in the end. A slow tapping and a creaking of doors attracted the android's attention to the main entry doors of the offices. It was dark, so he had to readjust himself a few times before he could easily see the two figures standing in the darkness.

"We're here. Now what's the deal?" the second figure spoke up, his entire body hidden in shadows.

"You said you had a job for us," the first followed up, his legs revealed in the light.

His legs were covered in massive forest green boots made of a certain type of bullet proof fabric. They were flimsy and baggy until you attached them to the suit legs, which he had done, creating the illusion of sturdy, unbreakable boots. The boots reached up to the knees.

"I'm glad you two could finally show up. First I want to know your real names. We've been under the cover of fake names for so long, I've been wanting to know you a little better," the robot replied.

"You're not getting our real names, but we can give you the same names we give everyone else we work with," the second individual, with a hint of rush in his voice, replied.

"Do tell," the android answered.

"I'm Geneticide," the forest green booted individual introduced himself.
