Lance POV

I stared at the stars around me and the ship, looking off into the dark abyss called space.

Where even were we?

My mind spiraled in random thoughts and daydreams, never staying on one specific one for too long.

The stars and different moons and planets twinkled and swirled through space, and I saw galaxies pass by as we continued our journey.

Lotor and his generals were still asleep and would be for who knows how long. I sat at the control panel, and was making sure we didn't come across anything that would endanger us.

I didn't sleep.

I heard the sound of doors opening and shutting.

They must have just woken up.

I waited for everyone to join me, but they never did. I got up to see where they were, but stopped before I turned the corner after hearing voices.

"Why is he even here!? He isn't important or even a part of this mission!"

Zethrid.

"She is right. Cessair should not be with us. We should leave him on the nearest planet we find."

Acxa.

"Yes, he is not important, but he is the only one keeping us connected to that witch."

Lotor.

My heart broke in two as tears streamed silently down my face.

Lotor, the person who treated me like a younger brother, was only using me for his own personal benefits.

I walked quickly away from where they were talking around the corner. Silent sobs racked my body as I headed towards the nearest escape pod. I wasn't going to be used. Never again.

I sat in the escape pod's pilot seat and turned on all the controls.

Time to get out of here.

I pressed a few buttons on the control panel and the pod shot out far into space. Unnoticed.
Well, it would be for a while. I'll be long gone by the time they realize I'm not around.

Lance POV

I landed on a small planet a couple of vargas later. It had sparkling deep violet waters, bright blue skies, and small towns of friendly aliens.

When I landed, they immediately ran up to me, soldiers in front of the citizens.

"State your business." The first soldier said.

None of them had their weapons drawn.

They're giving me a chance!
I realized.

"I mean no harm."
I signed.

Hopefully they knew what sign language was.

They did.

All of the planet's inhabitants' forms relaxed quickly.

"Then come, join us in the village!"

So I did.
