Amy's P.O.V.
I opened my eyes, and saw the bed was empty. Where was Newt? Suddenly, the door opened, and Newt came through holding a plate with bacon and eggs on it. He sat it down on the small table, as I sat up. I took a bite of my food.
"Morning." He said.
"Morning." I said back.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"A bit better, but.......I still don't know if I can—" he cut me off.
"You don't have to face him." He said. I nodded. I finished my breakfast, and went outside with Newt. He went off to do his job. I was walking around, when an alarm went off. Most of the boys ran to the box. I stood near the front, between Gally and Newt. The box opened, and boy with black hair and dark brown eyes was in there. He was the boy from my vision. Gally jumped into the box, and said something I couldn't hear. The boys pulled him out of the box, and stood around him. He looked around at us, and his eyes stopped on me. I stared into his eyes, and got a memory. I was 5 and he was 6. We were holding hands, and waking down a hallway. He told me everything would be okay, because I had my big brother at my side. That's when I realized who he is. He's my brother. He got off the ground, and took off running.
"Hey Stop!" I yelled, as I chased after him. I was so close to him, then he tripped and fell in his face. I watched as the boys threw him in the pit. I waited until the boys were gone, to talk to him. I walked up to the cage, and bended down to his level. "Hi." I said. He looked at me. "We didn't get to meet before you ran off. I'm Amy." I said.
"You're...m-my—" I cut him off.
"Sister. Yeah." I said.
"So that means....I'm your—" I cut him off again.
"Big brother." I said. I nodded.
"I don't....I don't remember anything." He said.
"I know. It's okay. That happened to everyone here. When I first got here, the only thing I remembered was my name." I said. "But don't worry. Hopefully, you'll remember your name. And so will I." I said back. It's true. I remember that he's my brother, but I don't remember his name.
"Amy, do you mind if I talk to the greenie alone?" Alby asked as he came over. I nodded.
"Sure." I answered. I looked back to my brother. "I'll see you later." I said. I got up, and walked over to Alby. "I'm gonna go see Newt." I told him, and looked at my brother one last time. I looked back at Alby. "Take care of him." I said, and walked away. I looked around, and saw Newt checking the new supplies that came with my brother. I ran over to him, and jumped on his back. I wrapped my legs around his torso, and my arms around his neck. "Hi." I said.
"You surprised me, Love." He said.
"That was the point." I said as I got off him. I walked in front of him. "I know him." I said.
"Know who?" He asked.
"The new greenie." I answered.
"How?" He asked.
"I remembered. Newt, the new greenie is my big brother." I said.
"Holy shank." Newt said.
"I know. But me and him don't remember his name." I said.
"You don't?" He asked.
"No." I answered. I sighed.
"Well, the bright side is that you got your brother back, and remembered he was your brother. Do you know what anyone in the Glade would give to remember something of their families?" He asked rhetorically. "Anything. These boys would give anything to remember a piece of their family. I know I would. But you got not just a piece, but a person. A living, breathing person, that also turns out to be your big brother. That's amazing, Love. So be happy. Because some of us can't." He said to me, as he walked closer to me. Our faces were inches away from each other. He looked away from me, and saw my brother and Alby walking. He looked back at me. "I'm gonna go meet this new greenie." He said.
"Okay. But be nice, please. For me." I begged.
"Alright Love. I will, for you." He said. He leaned down, and gave me a kiss on the cheek before leaving me standing there in a daze. My heart was racing a million miles an hour. I shook my head, trying to wake back up. I knew I always felt an emotion for Newt, but I can't explain what it is.
