"Amy!" Newt yelled, but I kept running. I ran to my tree, and looked around. Then, my eyes dropped to the ground, to see a red furred and white chested dead squirrel. Chestnut. I dropped to the floor.

"No. No, no, no. Chestnut, please. Wake up. Please." I begged. I picked him up, and held him against my chest. I started sobbing.

"Amy. Are you okay?" Thomas asked, and I didn't answer. Someone kneeled down next to me.

"Love, what's wrong?" Newt asked.

"He's gone. Greg killed him." I said. I slowly put my little lifeless friend on the ground. I looked at Newt.

"Come here." He said. He hugged me. I kept sobbing. Newt buried Chestnut, and made him a gravestone. I put small flowers there, and said goodbye to my friend. Now, I was sitting on the blanket on the ground, drawing a picture of a flower. Then, I heard Thomas yelling help. I looked at Newt, and he looks at me. Newt grabbed his shovel, and came over to me. "Stay here. I'll be back." He said, and ran off. I finished my drawing, but New still didn't come back. So I decided to see what the problem was. I walked around, until I spotted Ben in the pit. I walked up to the pit.

"Ben?" I questioned. He looked at me.

"Amy?" He asked.

"What happened?" I asked. He didn't answer. I was mad. I walked around, until I spotted Newt and Alby speaking to each other. I walked over to them. "Okay, why the hell is Ben in the pit?!" I asked. They looked at me, then each other. "Will someone please answer me for crying out loud?!" I asked.

"Amy......Ben has been stung." Alby said. All my anger washed away, and was replaced my sadness.

"What?" I questioned.

"He attacked Thomas." Newt said.

"Is Thomas okay?" I asked.

"Yes. But for everyone's safety, we have no choice but to banish him." Alby said. My heart broke into a million pieces. Ben was one of my best friends, and now I'm losing him. Alby walked away.

"Are you alright, Love?" Newt asked.

"I've just lost Chestnut, now I'm losing Ben. I can't believe this is happening." I said. Newt hugged me.

"It's gonna be alright." He said. But no matter how hard I wanted to believe him, I knew he was wrong. And he knew he was too. I was standing in the crowd waiting for Minho to bring out Ben. I could hear Ben begging for Minho to not let this happen. Minho untied Ben's hands, pushed him onto the ground in front of us. He threw Ben's bag into the maze. A big breeze blew out of the maze. I felt my eyes tearing up.

"Poles." Alby said, and all the boys put their poles toward Ben. Ben got up off the ground, and was trying to find a way out. A group of boys, that included Newt and Alby, started pushing Ben into the maze, and the doors started closing. They pushed Ben between the doors, and he ran into the maze. The doors closed, and Ben's screams stopped. As soon as those doors closed, I dropped on my knees to the ground. The breath I was holding, I let go, and my tears were running down my face. Newt walked over to me, and picked me up off the ground, bridal style. I was clinging to his shirt. He took me to our hut, sat on the bed, and put me on his lap. He pushed my hair behind my ear.

"Are you alright, Love?" He asked. I shook my head.

"He was my friend. And now he's gone." I said. Newt hugged me, and put my head under his chin.

"Everything will be okay. I promise." He said.

"How? How can you say that, not knowing if everything will be okay?" I asked.

"I hoping everything will be okay. So I can say it, if I'm hoping." He said jokingly. I laughed a little. "Ah, I made you laugh. See, as long as I'm around, I'll still make good jokes." He said.

"Yeah, but some aren't that good." I said and tried not to laugh.

"Oh, so now you're gonna make fun of my jokes. Really? Huh? Are you?" He said as he tickled my sides. I fell back onto the bed, and he climbed on top of me, still tickling me.

"Stop! It hurts. Stop it!"I said laughing.

"Are you gonna stop making fun of my jokes? Huh? Are ya?" He asked, tickling me.

"Okay. I'll stop." I said giving up. He stopped tickling me. I saw what position we were in. He was straddling me. I felt my face turn red. He slowly started leaning in, but backed away at the last second. He slowly got off me.

"We should get some sleep." He said. I nodded. I slid over, and climbed under the covers. Newt did the same. I laid my head on the pillow.

"Night Newt." I said.

"Goodnight Amy." He said, and I fell asleep.
