★7★ Understanding

He couldn't face Airi and the others anymore because he was too embarrassed to do so. He should have got rid of his feelings for Airi when he had all of the chances to. He should have stopped himself from wishing because that only carried his false hopes up. 

How long has it been since he hung out with his friends? He was alone most of the time because he's doing his best to avoid everyone. Sometimes, if he was lucky, he would find Momoi and Aomine to hang out with. His job as a model was the only thing keeping him occupied from feeling any sadness so he was picking up more jobs than usual. He chose to work more so he wouldn't see anyone. 

"What the hell? He's hanging out with us again?" Aomine was getting annoyed because he actually wanted to be alone with Momoi. Having Kise here was like having a light bulb between them and it was annoying. 

"Why is Aominecchi being so cruel to me?" Kise complained. 

"You have your Kaijou buddies to annoy so why don't you go to them?" 

"..." 

"Ki-chan?" Momoi was worried about him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Ki-chan, did you fall out with them?" 

"..." Kise wouldn't say anything because there's nothing to say. He decided he will be fine as long as he's away from Airi and everyone...

"Airi-chan is worried about you." Momoi told him. 

"Momocchi, can we not talk about Airicchi?" 

"Ki-chan..." 

"You should have listened to me and just make her yours before your senpai comes back." 

Dai-chan, don't say that!" 

"It's true though. Don't start balling your eyes now that you see her happy with him. You lost your chance, moron." 

"I am a moron..." Kise suddenly said. It sort of freaked Aomine a little because he didn't expect Kise would actually accept the nasty label. 

"Woah..." Aomine shuffled his chair away from Kise. 

"Dai-chan, you idiot..." Momoi sighed. She looked at Kise again and she can see tears brimming. "Ki-chan, don't cry... It will be okay. It's not like Airi-chan hates you." 

"Why didn't you ever tell her that you love her again? You had 3 years to show your feelings for her..." Aomine said to him. 

"Because I knew there was never a chance... But I wished for it..." Momoi hugged him when Kise's tears made droplets on the table. "If I tell Airicchi that I still love her, it will be awkward for her... I promised Kasamatsu-senpai that I have to consider Airicchi before I do anything that concerns her..." He knew there wouldn't be a future where he's her Polaris and it will only be his unfulfilled dream. He was the fool for bringing his own hopes up like an idiot...

It was so easy to avoid everyone. Kise was always quick not to let any from Kaijou find him. He's doing a good job of being stealthy in his University life. He decided Yukine was right; his friends don't need him anymore. 

I'm not needed...

I'm not their ace anymore...

I don't need to be there anymore...

"Kise-kun~!" 

"Hm?" Kise turned himself around to see the girl from the karaoke bar. She looked as orange as always. Kise doesn't want to speak to her but he doesn't want to look nasty so he smiled at her. "Yes?"
