Hannah's POV

My eyes fluttered open and my hand raised to a tender lump that was starting to come up on my head.

Did I really just dream that whole event?

I decided for my own sanity that I did just dream.

I opened my door and walked down the stairs, stopping at the basement door. I tried the handle and saw it was locked. I smiled at myself and walked into the kitchen, grabbing a can of coke out of the fridge.

I sat down on the chair, sipping the coke and drumming my fingers on the table.

Why did I dream that whole event? It seemed so real...

"That's because it was real..." A quiet voice whispered around the kitchen and I felt a lump in my throat.

That wasn't real, Hannah. You're overreacting.

I jumped out of my skin when the house phone rang. I got off the seat and walked into the hallway.

"Hello?" I answered as I lifted up the phone.

"Hello? Is this Hannah?" An unfamiliar voice said and I got an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach.

"Yeah." I said.

"Well this is Sandra, your Great Aunt's carer and I'm just calling to say your Great Aunt had a dizzy spell and I've taken her to hospital. She might not be home for a few days." She said and I registered this information into my brain.

"Is she okay?" I said, quietly.

"Yes she's fine, it's more a precaution that she will be staying in hospital, okay?" She said and I nodded.

"Yeah, okay, thanks for telling me." I said and she cleared her throat.

"Okay, I will come round and pay you a visit soon." She said, hanging up. I sat down on the step, playing with a piece of my hair.

I will be okay. It's only going to be a few days by myself.

A sudden breeze blew over my bare arms and I hugged myself, feeling the sudden chill in the room.

The chill stayed round my body for a minute then it disappeared.

What the hell?

I found myself going back into the kitchen, staring out the window into the unkept back garden. This place needed some serious work done to it.

I then heard the creak of a floorboard directly behind me. My shoulders tensed up and I whirled around quickly.

No one was there.

I rubbed my palms over my face, convincing myself I am overreacting because I am by myself. When I looked out the window again, I saw the sun was starting to shine, brightening up the dull day outside.

Perfect.

I needed to get out of this creepy house. I grabbed a jacket from my room and ran down the stairs to my front door.

I put the key in the lock, ready to unlock the door and I froze when I heard the breathing beside my ear again.

"I'll see you soon." I heard a voice whisper into my ear and I quickly opened the door, slamming it behind and sticking the lock into the keyhole and taking off down the path, with my hands in my pockets.

A shiver ran through my body as I thought of the voice.

It couldn't have been real.

It couldn't have been.
