It was the early hours of the morning and (Y/N) was wondering through the house.

Only a few of the other pack members were awake, those being the chefs and maids. She watched them cook breakfast and drink their morning coffee for a while, having some milk of her own.

Once finishing her bowl, she then excused herself and wondered outside, taking in the fresh morning air.

Slowly walking down the steps, she stepped onto the morning grass, leaving her little footprints in the morning dew.

She listened to the birds and the insects singing and buzzing about, the cicadas singing loudly above the crickets.

A soft breeze rustled her fur, urging her further into the forest.

She didn't know how long she spent walking through the trees, watching her surroundings in awe as she saw the forest waking up.

But she soon came to a clearing in the woods.

It opened into a huge open field full of flowers with a large willow tree standing strong in the center.

Butterflies flew around, flower to flower, mingling with the bees and beetles. She watched them in awe, a particular emerald green one catching her eye and urging her to follow it throughout the field.

Left to right and back again, she followed through the low grass and flowers.

She halted in her place as the butterfly turned and came towards her, shuffling back before sitting down as the butterfly came to sit on her nose.

She watched it carefully, staring at the way its wings opened and closed as she rested.

She stayed as still as possible, not wanting to startle the beautiful creature.

She didn't even notice her mate making her way through the field towards her due to how focused she was.

Sitting beside her mate, Lauren watched her and the butterfly, wishing she was in her human form so she could take a photo of this beautiful moment.

But atlas, she wasn't. Opting for her large wolf to run through the forest as she searched for her small mate.

Relieve settled over her once she saw her in the field.

She wanted to kiss her good morning and nuzzle her fur as a greeting. To scent mark her so any rouges would know to stay away, that she was hers because the nature around them masked it. But she didn't.

She allowed her mate to watch the butterfly, refusing to disturb the green insect from its rest so they could watch it more closely.

A few moments passed before the small wolf sneezed, urging the creature to take flight.

(Y/N) turned to follow it, running into her mate with a thud.

Stumbling back onto her butt, (Y/N) shook her head before looking up at her mate.

As soon as she saw it was actually Lauren, she jumped up and nuzzled into her chest and legs happily, Lauren smiling down at her.

Lauren nuzzled her back and scent marked her before leaving a big sloppy kiss against her mates cheek.

The white wolf sat dazed for a second before snapping out of it and standing on her hind legs to give Lauren as many sloppy kisses as she could, matting the black fur of her cheek.

They soon migrated to under the willow, its leaves creating a hidden place, just for them.

There, Lauren laid content in its shade as she watched her mate roll through the long grass and chase after crickets.

She wasn't overly impressed when the small wolf caught a cicada and refused to open her mouth to let it out, but Lauren eventually managed to convince her to let the insect go.

Again, not impressed when she opened her mouth and let it fly directly at her, but she had asked for it.

But after that, they laid cuddled together under the tree for a while before having to return to reality.

The paperwork on Laurens desk needing to be signed while (Y/N) was going to play and help look after the pups in the playroom of the pack house.

And while reality wasn't horrible, this was perfect, under the tree with butterflies around her, Lauren at her side.

Nothing would be better than right now...
