"How about this one?" Safie,my friend, asks. I'm spending the day with her today, Maribel is here too. We're in her library reading old romance snd/or sci fi novels.
I look at the cover. "The Hunger Games," I say. "This could be interesting."
I begin to read aloud. Maribel and Safie seem to find it fascinating. Part way through, my voice got hoarse so I stopped to drink some water.
"This is how the people of the past saw us!" Maribel cries. "They would be rather dissapointed about what's really going on."
Safie interrupts Maribel, "I think what's really going on would make a good book."
"I could see that!" I shout.
"How?" Maribel asks.
"The drama, the deal making, the feeling of 'Oh, no! Will I get a husband?' " I explain.
"Hmm..." Maribel looks like she's thinking.
"Shall we continue on with the book?" Safie asks.
"I'm tired of reading aloud," I say.
"We should start on another!" Maribel suggests. "I'll read."
I pull out a book from the self behind me. I hand it to Maribel.
"The Giver," she states. "Let's read."
Maribel is an actress so she reads really well. As she reads, I get pulled into the story. But after awhile, she stops to have some water. I look at the clock.
"I've got to go!" I shout. "May I borrow this?" I indicate the book.
"Sure, just bring it back," she says.
"I will," I promise. "Bye!" I walk out of the house and into the world.
