"You took advantage of Maliah, you stupid piece of shit!"
My eyes widened as Nash spat these words towards Enzo. Enzo's face was confused as if Nash wasn't making any sense. The crowd suddenly started to whisper, starring at Enzo with horrified expressions.
Maliah, who was bawling her eyes out only moments ago next to a bewildered looking Sofía, stormed to Nash with rage blinding her vision. She was standing defensively in front of Enzo shielding him from Nash's glares.
"We kissed! And I insinuated it, okay!" Maliah corrected, whose tears caused her dramatic Cleopatra eye makeup to smudge.
Nash looked hurt to say the least. Damn, he really likes her. His eyes found Enzo again who towered over Maliah's small frame, revealing betrayal and disappointment.
"You kissed her back," Nash pointed out.
I could only see half of Enzo's face but I already knew that he was probably masking his feelings right now. Around his friends he usually never did that for example in the cafeteria at lunch without me present but the second I step in the picture he always starts to conceal his emotions like they are some sort of weakness any outsider could use against him. I understood that, hell I didn't even dare to show much of emotions in therapy myself. I understood that, his trust has to be earned first before he gives. But the fact that he was inconveniently making his emotions right now during a fight with his best friend, probably because a bunch of strangers was present surprised me.
"It didn't mean anything though, I swear, "Enzo pinched his eyes shut frustrated, "Look man, let's get out of her and talk," He stressed.
Nash suddenly looked like a small child, who had lost a lot in his young life. He trusted Enzo, they even are like brothers. Now that trust, Nash didn't give out easily as well, was severely damaged.
"If it didn't mean anything, you wouldn't have hidden it from me," Nash shook his head disappointedly.
He then proceeded to rip out his arm from Asthon's grip and stormed out of the house. Enzo wanted to go after him, but Isaac held him back. He whispered something to him as Enzo let out a long sigh.
The crowd started dissolving. The music began to play again as the teens went back to getting high and drunk. A few whispers and glances that were sent towards the friends were the aftermath of this fight. However, I sensed that on Monday everybody would be talking about it again.
I started to make my way to my friends as I suddenly felt how someone held me back.
"Don't tell me you know these freak shows," Dorian's unreadable gaze flickered to the group of solemn teenagers behind me.
"These freak shows are my friends," I snapped unexpectedly. I didn't know where my sudden sense to protect these people came from but I already knew were this unpleasant conversation was going to.
He raised his arms in defense, and said," I just didn't pinpoint you to be part of the popular, snobby crowd at your lame ass school."
"You're full of surprises, Meyer," Dorian was giving me a weird look, "The next thing you'll tell me is that you're related to Sofía González in some way," He joked.
I didn't laugh. And I was finding it difficult to understand what was funny about that.
"What?" He asked sharply, arching a brow.
"That's my step sister," I said matter-of-factly, "look at her outfit. She's another La Waldo."
Dorian's eyes widened as he looked behind me again, scanning Sof's attire. He looked back at me and his gaze slightly hardened.
