"Ms. Meyer, please, I need you to corporate with us. What happened on the day of the accident?" Detective Reynolds stared at me intensely. It looked like his patience was running thin. But I didn't care.
Three days ago I woke up from the coma. Three days ago I found out about her death. Three days ago Mrs. Suzuki was the last person I spoke to.
This detective was the same man that rushed in this hospital room, only a few hours after I had woken up, demanding answers to his questions. Now he was back with the same chilling, emotionless voice.
Mrs. Suzuki who was set beside me took my hand in hers, making me look at her, "Livia, I know this situation is very overwhelming for you but please think about the questions Detective Reynolds wants you to answer. Maybe you can find redemption by putting the man in prison who drove the other vehicle that night."
Without showing emotions I just nodded and took my hand out of her warm hold. I just wanted to get over with this.
"Where were your mother and you heading to?" The officer asked for the one hundredth time.
"A short trip. It was supposed to be a surprise."

I couldn't sleep the night after Miranda's birthday. I was worrying about Sofía the whole night. I texted her but she never answered.
The morning after was hella weird. As I made my way downstairs I knew something was off, when I heard lively chatter in the normally quiet house.
A mixture of surprise and dread overcame me as I discovered the rare sight of Luciana and David with an energetic looking Nicolas sitting together on the breakfast table.
Luciana was the first one who spotted me. Her eyes shone as she saw me, "Good morning, Livia! Come have a seat!"
I sat down awkwardly, chuckling to myself about the way she still pronounced my name. She said it as if there was an accent on the second i like Livía. I found it hilarious and cute at the same time, making it too difficult for me to hate on her by now.
Luciana wasn't the typical evil step mother I resented almost all my life. She was the opposite really: Sweet, caring, good. She was a great mother to Sofía and Nicolás, hell she even tried to be one for me. But that spot was already taken in my heart.
David just nodded at me briefly as he appeared out of the newspaper article he was engrossed in. I didn't pay him any mind though as Nicolás grinned at me with pancake and melted chocolate stuffed in his mouth. So damn adorable.
"Where is Sofía? Don't tell me she is still asleep," Luciana asked me, already annoyed at her daughter.
"Uh...No actually," I forced out a smile as I proceeded to lie in her face, "She slept over at Maliah's. I thought you were visiting relatives over the weekend?"
Luciana didn't even realize me changing the subject very unsubtly as a frown came over her flawless tanned features, "There was an emergency at the hospital yesterday night. I was in surgery till 6 am, then I just picked up Nicolás and came back home."
Now that she told me this new information, I saw how she couldn't sleep the whole night, her bags under her eyes sticking out suddenly.
I nodded at her and just continued to stare at the food before me. My lacking appetite wasn't something new for me by now, which started to worry me a bit. My jeans were becoming too loose, just like my favorite shirts were getting to baggy on me. It wasn't cute.
