For the next week, Revon and I didn't see much of each other. In fact, we barely had any contact with each other at all. From what I gathered, there was a case taking place, so for experience, he was shadowing the lawyer who was handling it. Unfortunately, he was always exhausted by the time he called me in the evening and didn't elaborate on his days much. This also reminded me that I don't know much about Revon with regards to his work, only that he is apart of the Dawson and Brown as some sort of assistant and intern.
There is still a lot I need to learn about the man, which surprises me when I think more in-depth about it. I have always wanted to know everything about someone before letting them into my life, though it was more than rare for that to happen since I didn't get further that greetings with people. Yet, there was no official greeting when it came to Revon, no normal introductions, no normal conversation starters. All he had to do was connect those eyes with my own when coffee spilt over himself for me to throw those rules out the window.
It scares me how fast that happened, how easy it was for me to accept him into my life with open arms. And because it scares me so much, I decided after our time in the park, as it dawned on me how possessive I felt towards him when the stranger had eyed him up, to keep a little wall up still. Just in case. Although my heart tells me that Revon is worth the risk, my mind overrules by advising me to be cautious. I know from experience how easy it is for others to slip out of your life without being able to grab a hold and keep them close. This is a pain I don't want to ever experience again, especially with Revon.
Thankfully, I was able to keep hold of my emotions this week, so the distance didn't bother me too much as I had received a phone call Monday morning with a new job lined up that required my assistance.
The perk of this job is that I have my own schedule that I get to follow, as long as it is done quickly and efficiently. I usually give myself a two-week long deadline to complete the workload, giving myself enough time to review everything and solve whatever issue it is the company or person is having.
Luckily, I managed to get the main tasks completed over the past four days and have rewarded myself with a long weekend dedicated to lazy-days.
Today, being Friday, I planned on spending my afternoon lounging about in my underwear, eating junk food, as Friends plays back-to-back on the tv. But when have my lazy days every gone to plan?
A hard, short knock on the door interrupts me from building my blanket and pillow designed fort. I contemplate ignoring it, wanting to spend the afternoon on my own but the contrasting rapid knock that follows moments later make me decide otherwise.
Have you ever sat in silence, and listened to the sound of a family member walk up or down the hallway, maybe even the stairs, and you know exactly who it is by the pitter-patter that they make? I do, except it's not their footfall that I recognize, it's their rhythm when knocking on doors.
I sigh out in exasperation, abandoning my half-built masterpiece. I know if I don't answer the door within the expected timeframe, those rapid knocks won't cease. Running to my room, I quickly throw on some sweatpants and a hoody before making my way to answer the door.
As I get closer to the main hallway by the front door, I'm not too surprised to hear the two individuals arguing, or should I say one person arguing with another silent person.
"Who knocks on a door like that? No one in this world would answer to that knock. They would not even know it is one, and you would be left standing here, alone. You should knock as I did, it allows them to know someone is here and they need to answer fast because it is urgent. Then they are graced with my handsome face. Don't look at me like that, I know you agree..."
