Jordan's heart was beating so loud he was surprised no one else could hear it. He walked towards the machine, trying so hard not to look like an idiot, he just hoped he didn't trip, or break something.

Tom was on the other side of the hall walking towards the machine as well, but Jordan couldn't see how Tom was feeling, and if he was fearful as well. The look on Tom's face when he got close gave him his answer. Tom looked confident, like he knew the outcome of what's about to happen, but there was something else, a look of unease. Tom had no idea what he was going to face, and that made him wary of it.

Jordan could hear whispers all around him talking about them.

"Jordan Sparkles? Isn't he the guy that Mason was picking on?"

"Look, you can see him shaking, he's probably won't even get to be in Mianite or Dianite's group"

"Tom looks greener today, not sure how"

"I wonder when they'll let us have lunch"

That last one caught Jordan off guard, but he was mainly thinking about those people who think he's a loser, a nobody.

It hurt. A lot.

Now he really didn't want to do the simulation, he just wanted to run out of the hall, crawl into a little hole and never return, but his legs kept on walking forward, not allowing any ability to run away.

When he reached the couch he sat down, sitting right in front of Tom where their knees were almost touching. He waited for further instructions from the council to tell him what to do.

"Remember, you are to not remove the Cyglass lens at all both before or after the simulation has occurred, do you understand?" A male council member said, who received two nods in response.

"Good, now if you can lie down with your head facing forward, that will be required for this to work."

They both laid down and waited for the council to place the lens and start the simulation.

"Good luck" he heard Tom say. He tried saying it back but he felt the words stuck in his throat, so he gave him a small nod.

A council member came up to him holding the Cyglass lens, this was it, this is his future, now his heart was pumping fast and he was ready for whatever he had to face. With that, the Cyglass was put on his face, and the simulation began.

A bright white light was all Jordan saw, and the simulation began.

————————————————————————

Or so he thought it did.

Only a few seconds later he felt the Cyglass lens being removed from his head, shocking him slightly.

"It's over?" He questioned, he was so confused, he doesn't remember ever going into the simulation, or experiencing it at all. Jordan looked over to Tom and noticed he looked confused as well.

"The simulation is complete, please move to the next room" the council member closest to him said.

He stood up unsure of what even happened. Tom come up next to him, feeling the same as Jordan was.

"Hey Jordan, what the hell just happened, I don't remember ever going into that simulation" Tom whispered to him loudly.

"I...I don't know" he answered. To be honest he wasn't sure what to do at this point, he felt like something was wrong, like he was missing something.

"Hey Jordan look! Our rings!" Tom said, his tone changing from confused to excited.

Jordan looked down and his heart sunk. This is what he didn't want, this can't be happening, what did he do wrong?...
