The stolen heart.

Chapter six.

I opened my eyes to a hospital. I closed them cursing.

Not again.

Dilated cardiomyopathy sucks monkey balls.

"Anna?"

This is getting serious now.

I squinted but then realised the room was dark so stopped. I looked at my mother who was holding my left hand which had a IV drip attached to it. Watching me from the end of my bed were the rest of my siblings, all ten of them, and Dyson.

There was a second silence but in true Pleasley fashion that never lasts, one sibling turned on the lights. At the very same time they all spoke different things to me so I ended up answering nobody and closing my eyes again trying to catch some rest before in could go home. My mum gasped and shook me.

"Claire! Get the doctor she's falling asleep again!"

I opened my eyes and looked at my mother incredulously "I was trying to sleep before I could go home" Everyone immediately, like it was a switch, looked guilty and looked away from me. To the floor or the window or at someone else. And that was the moment I knew, (A/N: I love Taylor Swift lyric puns and stuff. If you do too you should read my book FEARLESS!) I wasn't coming home tonight. Or tomorrow night. I was officially dying. I fiddled with my fingers looking at them "I'm not coming home am I?"

My mother sighed "You need a transplant now. No hearts have been the right fit for you. You're rare and you need to rest. You can maybe come home on a visit sometime or after the operation. We paid for the best care for you. It will be like a holiday. It's monday so your father and I, your brothers and sisters...and Dyson have to go to school and work but Claire can stay" Claire was expecting a baby soon, first child, so she was on maternity leave. The baby was due in two weeks.

Claire sat on the end of my bed as the others gave me hugs. I smiled at my baby brother and sister as they sat on my lap talking quietly. We said I love you so I kissed their foreheads goodbye and handed them back to Jennifer and Jennaire. I gave the triplets, Red, Navy and Violet hugs and told them to stay out of trouble. Next was Kayden and Hayden who both patted me on the head and left kissing my cheek. Jennaire hugged me tightly sobbing slightly, she was always dramatic and emotional. Jennifer patted my head because she was anything but. My mother was just the same as Jennaire and my father was the same as Jennifer.

I glanced at my sister after locking eyes with Dyson "Claire, can Dyson and I talk for a second?" she smiled and waddled to the door with her pregnant stomach.

I looked at Dyson for the longest moment, taking everything in and remembering it. The colour of his hair, his majestic khaki shade eyes, the shade of pink his cheeks go when I tease him, the shape of his lips and the aristocratic slope of his nose. When I was married I couldn't look at him like I am now. My husband would never let it go if he caught me checking out Dyson. That's sounds so bloody weird.

I pursed my lips as all the things that I wanted to say came up my throat like stomach acid. They burned my eyes and swelled my throat, they increased my heart rate and made my hands shake. I dropped my gaze to the floor in embarrassment that I was staring for so long and because I was about to cry.

He sat on the edge of the bed fiddling with the sheets "When you're better I can show you the children on the third floor. They're really cute and they'll like you a lot"

A single tear fell onto my lap as he was talking "That sounds really fun" I

glanced at him again before dropping it to the floor "We can go another day. You need to get to school before you're late"
