Having been single for as long as she can remember has mold her to becoming a carefree person: free from anxiety and even responsibilities. She could do almost anything she wanted to, including travelling.
It was a Saturday morning and Reen couldn't wait to stroll around Sydney. She just arrived a couple of minutes ago from her trip but Sydney was too wonderful to keep it waiting so she took her guide map and her sling bag, placed a hat on her head and went off on her way.
She has planned her trip 2 months earlier and was able to make her own itinerary for two weeks in Australia. Nothing could go wrong for it was all planned out smoothly.
"First day... Hyde Park!" she exclaimed.
Hyde Park, Sydney was the oldest public parkland in Australia. And despite of being the oldest it was no doubt beautiful. It isn't a single tourist attraction for in fact it caters a lot more around its boundaries, making it one of the go-to attractions in Sydney. It was a few-minute walk from the Hotel making it the best choice to visit on her first day.
As she walked through the park she couldn't help it but take lots of photos. Everywhere you look was so worthy of a shot especially when she reached the centerpiece of the park, the Archibald Fountain. She sat on one of the sides of the hexagon-shaped fountain as she look at it, full of amazement, realizing it indeed was a lot beautiful in person compared to what she saw on the internet.
As she was sitting and marveling at the St. Mary's Cathedral on the other side of the road, a shadow hovered over her.
"Hi. If you don't mind can you please pose, right there, for a picture?" said a tall Asian guy, about her age, and with dimples on the corners of his lips. He was holding a camera on his right hand and pointing to where she was at, with his left.
She was a bit surprised; some foreign guy was talking to her in a foreign country and asking her to pose for a picture.
Although she didn't want to sound rude she instantly muttered out, "Excuse me?"
"Oh sorry" the guy said, realizing he sounded demanding himself.
"I just wanted to have a subject for the photo I'll be taking. I wanted to show it to my friends when I get back to Korea." He said as he placed his hand behind his neck.
Cute, she thought.
"Apologies, I didn't mean it that way either. Yes, you can, although can it be candid-like? I'm not really photogenic." She tried to force a smile, hoping he got what she meant.
"Oh yes, no worries at all. Thank you. You may go ahead and do what you were doing a while ago." He bowed and moved a few steps backward.
She slightly bowed her head back at him, thinking it was the appropriate thing to do.
She fixed her hair, allowing some strands to cover a fourth of her face and looked back right at the fountain, trying to act naturally, as if no one was taking a photo of her. Just then a group of pigeons flew near her, some of which settled beside her, and one on her shoulder. This made her smile, a genuine one. It was a scene she could only picture out in movies and books, and so she never imagined it happening to her in real life.
She almost forgot about the Asian guy until she had a glimpse of him panic and quickly ran meters away from her spot. She was confused until she realized why.
She stood up, making some of the pigeons fly to another spot. She slowly walked towards the guy, while he still kept taking photos of her. When she was near him, she paused in front of the camera, making him wonder and look at her.
"What?" he asked, confused.
"You're afraid of pigeons, aren't you?" she asked as she grinned playfully.
