Flashback

"Which one of you idiots thinks it's funny to leave fish heads next to my bed?" I stormed into the great hall, holding up a fish head that carried its disgusting smell all through Kattegat.

The brothers burst into a fit of laughter, all unable to keep a straight face.

"You've been doing it for weeks! How did you even get all these fish?" I exasperated.

"We caught them." Sigurd stated like it was obvious.

"Ha! You four catching fish! I'll believe that when I see it." I chuckled.

"Uhm, excuse you." Hvitserk fained offence.

"If I catch any of you doing this again, it'll be your heads!" I warned jokingly.

"You won't catch us, you wouldn't wake up even for Ragnarok!" Ivar laughed, earning laughter from all his brothers.

"That's not true!" I chuckled along, throwing the fish head at him.

"It is true, you'll sleep through everything." Ubbe laughed.

"Okay, I'll fight one of you. If I win, you stop putting fish heads next to my bed!" I declared.

"And if we win?" Ivar grinned.

"That's your choice." I said.

The boys looked at me, then at each other. They all gathered around Ivar's chair, whispering about what prank they could pull on me.

They all dispersed, Ubbe walked forward as the other three tried to remain serious in the background.

"If we win, you have to carry that around with you for the rest of the day." He announced.

"For the love of Odin! Ivar!" I exasperated, knowing this was his idea.

"How do you know it was me? It's not always my idea." He grinned.

"I'm going to kill you." I sighed.

"I guess you better win this, then." Ubbe smiled as the brothers all high five eachother.

Sigurd and I stood face to face. I held up my sword, he did the same. We circled eachother, both waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

"Just stab eachother!" Ivar called from the sidelines.

I looked over at the three brothers with a frown. While I was distracted, Sigurd figured it was the perfect moment to strike.
His sword hurtled towards me and I had barely enough time to throw up my shield in defence.

"You're going to get me killed!" I breathed out a laugh.

"Then don't get so distracted." He responded.

I pushed up my shield, bashing his sword away, and sent my sword towards him. The metal of our weapons clashed against eachother as we fought fiercely, neither of us wishing to lose. I went for a leg sweep but he dodged, I kicked but e blocked. He attacked with his sword and I desperately used all my strength to dodge, block and counter strike.

We fought for about ten minutes, both getting tired. Beads of sweat trickled down my aching face. I kept pushing forwards.

Soon enough, I saw an opening in his defence. I kicked Sigurd to the ground, watching as he stumbled down. I followed it by knocking my shield into his face and slamming my sword into the ground beside him.

"WOOO!" I cheered as all the brothers cursed. I fell on the ground, tired, and sat beside Sigurd. "You fought well."

"As did you."

My eyes shot open. I was in a dark, windowless room. Everything was silent as the oak walls closed around me. Where was I?
