alternate scenario for when Johnny got jumped :)

enjoy!!

(I was too lazy to go back and read the part (also it's sad) so I'm just winging it)

Ponyboy's POV

My eyes darted to the groaning silhouette in the distance.

Johnny. Oh no.

Everyone's minds seemed to put two and two together at the same time.

All at once, all of the gang that was there took off running towards what we thought was Johnny.

Soda got to him first. Based on the mop of black hair, sure looked like Johnny to me. He tapped Johnny's shoulder. No response. He very carefully took one of Johnny's shoulders and rolled him over. That got him a groan, but Johnny's face was now visible.

He had a gash going from his temple down to his cheekbone, and his white t-shirt was covered in splatters of blood.

Soc. The socs did this. No one else would beat a quiet kid like Johnny. 'Cept his parents, but never this bad, Johnny always got away before it was too bad.

You would never understand the mood unless you were there. It was nearly silent. We were never silent.

"Johnnycake?" Soda asked, quietly.

"..Soda..?" Johnny whispered, not bothering to open his eyes.

"That's me, buddy. Listen..you're gonna be just alright, Kay? We're gonna take you back, and me and Pony are gonna fix you up, aight?"

Johnny nodded, just barely. Soda motioned for me to help him keep Johnny upright. I darted over, and draped one of Johnny's arms around my shoulders, while Soda got his other arm.

"Y'all head back to the house and hold the door open. Keep his jacket." Soda told everyone. Without another word, everyone was booking it down the street.

Johnny's head leaned in my direction, and I started to wonder if he was still conscious.

Soda and I shuffled as quickly as we could, all the way back to our house. Steve and Two held the door open for us. Dally must've taken off in the other direction to find the Socs. Bad decision if you ask me. I'd wait.

We lowered Johnny onto our couch. Soda ran into the bathroom to get a first-aid kit. I sat next to Johnny, on the floor.

"Johnnycake? How you feeling?" I murmured, still half thinking he'd passed out.

"..N-not too...not too good, Pone.." he whispered, barely loud enough for me to hear it.

I frowned, reaching up to push his bangs back. I winced, just seeing the blood drip down his cheeks gave me shivers. I pulled my sleeve over my hand and wiped off the blood. Johnny quietly whimpered.

Soda dashed around the corner, with a first-aid kit in his hand. He glanced down at his watch, sighing. "I really have got to get back to the DX with Steve- our lunch break is over in.. 3 minutes-"

"Go, I got 'em." I said, glancing at Johnny, then back at Soda.

"You sure, Pone?"

"I'm sure, Soda, I'll take care of him."

"Aight, Pony, Steve and I'll be back soon," Soda said, while he ruffled my hair. He left the kit on the table, and him and Steve dashed out the door, determined not to be late.

I opened the kit, and searched through the contents. First things first, I needed to get him cleaned up. I ran into the kitchen, wet a towel and grabbed an ice pack, making my way back to Johnny.

"I..I can sit-" He started, beginning to sit up, before I gently pushed him back down.

"Nuh-uh, Johnny, you best lay down, it'll be more comfortable.." I carefully brushed his hair to the side and dabbed the blood with the towel.

"An ice pack help, Johnnycake?" I asked, setting it in his open hand. He rested it on the side of his jaw, while I grabbed bandages from the kit.

I carefully bandaged up his cuts, hands, and whatever else was hurt. He stayed mostly quiet, but there was an occasional whimper that made my heart hurt. Poor Johnny.. he didn't deserve this. He didn't hurt nobody, he was just minding his own. Sweet kids like him ain't never safe, I thought to myself.

Once I was done, he was all fixed up, and he had some time to relax, we were sitting on the couch together, watching Mickey.

I'm surprised Two wasn't here watching with us. Probably off with Dally.

Johnny didn't say much, and I'm not surprised. I'd be shaken up, too..

"Hey, Johnny?"

"Mhm?" He hummed raspily response.

"What.. what happened?"

He was quiet for a second, and I wondered if I asked the wrong question..

"I.. I was outside. Practicing some kickin'...for football. A.. blue mustang pulled up. Couple.. Socs got out." So I was right. It was the Socs. What low-lives. Johnny's voice started to tremble again. "One of em'.. lot a' rings.. held me down.. st-started.. threatenin' me.. threatenin' to hurt you.. and I couldn't... I couldn't..." I could see the tears well up in his eyes. I ain't a big crier, Soda is, but I still had to swallow the lump in my throat.

I wrapped my arms tightly around Johnny, and just let him cry. He buried his face in my shoulder, and wrapped his arms around my waist. I let him cry for himself, for the Socs, and for all the greasers. Johnny's not a big crier either, but everyone has their moments.

A few minutes must've passed. He sniffled, pulling back just little. He reached up and fixed my hair for me.

"D-don't you start cryin', too, Pone. One crybaby's enough.." Johnny said quietly, letting a faint smile climb it's way into his lips.
I smiled, too. And we sat, wrapped around each other until the rest of the gang got home.

a/n: hope y'all enjoyed!! I wrote this chapter surprisingly quickly actually lmao

It had 977 words I think, so that's more than usual! I just love these boys so much,,,

also soda and the others don't get enough time in my books so I'm gonna work on incorporating them in more!

thank you for reading and leave some oneshot suggestions if you have them!
