Chapter 4: Deaths

Eren's POV

I was already prepared to meet my last breath. The titans were gaining on me.

But I held on to one last hope to be saved. I closed my eyes as I make my way through the fields.

As a titan reached for me, I saw a shadow pass by it quickly, cutting off its nape. And I heard his voice.

"You really are a suicidal bastard aren't you?"

But my relief wasn't there yet. More titans have appeared.

"Do you even have gas Jeager?!", Levi shouted.

"I'm afraid not Sir.", I replied.

He landed in front of me with a pissed face. "Stay near.", he said.

I stood near him as we watched Armin, Mikasa, Jean and the others killed the surrounding titans. Mikasa landed on the ground next to us. "Eren! Are you okay?!"

She walked over to me for a hug. "Don't ever do that again!", she shouted angrily. I took her arms off me. I turned my head away slightly.

"Let's go. We might waste more gas.", Levi said.

The others went on ahead but I stayed for a while with Levi right in front of me with his back facing me. "You really are a suicidal bastard aren't you Eren?", he muttered.

"If it weren't for me we'd lose scouts!", I said defensively.

"Don't you know how to follow a plan?! And also, you should know that people have their own faiths! Change it and the other will be the one who'll fail! That's the truth in this nightmare we're in!"

"But don't you even try?! To try change EVERYTHING for the better?!"

"I have already tried. And trust me. Others have suffered miserably because of my action."

I fell in silence. I sighed then nodded.

Levi's POV

I let out a sigh and puts my blades back. "Let's just go bastard.", I said.

I called for my horse and hop on it, letting it walk towards Mikasa and the others. Eren hop on his horse and followed me from behind.

I decided to talk to Eren as I calm down. "Next time, stick with the plan.".

He nodded slowly. I looked up ahead and saw no sign of titans. Again. I closed my eyes, knowing that something terrible is going on.

What's the other scouts' doing?!

My grip on the reins went tight. I was getting worried. We went further in the fields and not even one sign was at sight.

"Captain. Something's really wrong...", Eren said from behind.

"I know. Let's just head on ahead and try to look for Erwin and his group. He needs to explain.", I replied.

We reached the area near a cliff and I can see scouts' capes from afar. The horse went faster as we go near.

"Erwin!!!", Eren shouted.

But they didn't reply and just stood there looking under the cliff. I halted my horse and hop off it, walking towards Erwin. "What the hell's going on Erwin?".

They just stood there silent. Eren walked over and grabbed Erwin by the collar of his cape.

"Answer us! What the hell's going o----", his message got cut when he also looked down at the cliff. "C... Captain. Take a look at this.".

I walked over to them and looked down under the cliff and I was shocked at the sight. There were a lot of bodies of dead scouts lying on the ground, along with titans walking around.

What happened here?!

I looked back at Erwin, not saying a word. Eren then turned at him and continued to shout, "You! You let them die! What kind of a leader are you?! To watch your people cry for help, slowly dying!".

"You think I don't care?", Erwin started.

"You! Erwin! You and Levi are just the same! You two don't care about others! Only your own safety!", Eren shouted.

In Erwin' anger, he grabbed Eren and threw him away. He turned to me.

"Why did you raise such a soldier?!", he exclaimed.

He let out a sigh. "Let's go."
