Chapter 10: By My Side

Levi's POV

We went ahead outside the walls. The titans in the area has decreased, leaving us with less titans to kill. I took a deep breath.

"Scouts!", Erwin said. "Go in separate directions per squad!".

My squad went north east. I looked around and saw titans.

"Are you guys ready?", I said, looking back at them.

"Yes sir!", they all replied.

The horses sprinted faster. Mikasa and Armin handled those at the left. Jean, Connie and Sasha at the right. Me and Eren went north.

I looked at Eren and he has a face of determination. I smiled under my breath. "Lets do this Jeager."

Taking out my blades, I hooked my wires up at a titan's nape and sliced it off. Eren did the same thing.

"Seems like I don't need titan form eh Cap.?", he said as he killed a titan.

"Seems like it.", I said, landing on the ground, looking at the arriving titans.

"Seems like we have more unwanted visitors.", I said as I hooked my wires unto one.

"Come to think of it, how are the others doing sir?", Eren said, refilling his gas.

"Probably fine. I haven't seen any signal flares from them. We'll check on them later."

"Okay sir."

Eren finished refilling his gas.

I stood nearby him making sure no titan take advantage of him refilling.

"Everything okay now?", I said, keeping an eye out.

"Yes sir I'm ready.", he replied.

I once again hooked my wires at a titan's nape. The titan was tall that I can already see the whole field.

Just before I boost my speed, I saw a signal flare from the right.

Jean, Sasha and Connie...

"Jeager... Let's leave this area for a while. Advance to Jean's location."

We turned around and headed quickly to Jean's team. Eight titans were there, surrounding them while more are coming.

"Hey Cap.!", said Jean who I know is scared at the moment.

Eren headed towards the nearest titans at them and slashed their napes off. I took care of the few titans arriving.

"Jean, Connie and Sasha. You three go and get prepared. All five of us can't stay in one location.", I ordered as I landed on the ground.

"Yes sir!", Sasha said.

They changed their blades and gas while me and Eren distracted the titans. I was running out of gas and I don't have supplies. Looking behind me, they were prepared.

"Okay we'll leave the rest to you three.", I said as I start gliding through the trees back to the north.

"Eren...", I said on the way.

"Yes sir?"

"I have small amount of gas left... I have no supplies."

"Oh no... I haven't seen any supplyers yet."

"Do you have a spare?"

"Sadly, this is my last.. Let's wait. The supplyers might arrive soon."

"Okay.."

We landed on a tree branch, looking around the fields for any supplyers.

Instead of supplyers, only titan faces is what I see...

I sat down. "Seems like I have to use all my gas."

"What?! No sir. L-let's just wait! I-I'm sure they'll arrive soon..."

"Alright but if none arrives for the next 10 minutes, I'm using it all up."

"O-okay..."

Ten minutes had passed by and no supplyers were at sight.

"Alright time's up.", I said as I stood up.

I heard Eren let out a sigh.

"Sorry Eren. But I want to finish this mission quickly."

"That doesn't mean risk your life."

"It's not risking life I'm doing Eren... It's surviving..."

I hooked my wires near the swarm of titans with Eren following from behind. Just after a few kill counts, I ran out if gas and I fell to the ground hard. I stood up and tried to boost up to see if it's all used up and it is.

I let out a sigh, looking up at the titans staring at me.

Oh well...

I saw Eren fly behind their backs and slashed at the napes. I moved a bit to avoid the falling dead titans.

"Thanks."

"No prob Captain."

Just then, out of luck, Eren's gas was also used up.

"Oh geez. Sorry captain."

"It's not your fault Eren."

I hooked my wires up on a tree and sat there at a tree branch with Eren
Not for long, titans have swarmed around the tree leaving no escape for us.

Our signal flares were at our horses and they are nowhere to be found. Even if they are there, the horses can't pass through the crowd of titans. I lost hope.

"Sir?"

"Yes?"

"There is one solution."

"What is it?"

"I will turn into titan form."

"Too risky... You might not control it."

"Better to try than nothing Sir."

"Fine... be careful."

Eren bit his hand and his teeth sunk into his skin. He turned into a titan. He tossed the titans one by one. He was doing well. By then, there was a signal flare from both Mikasa and Jean's group. I tried communicating with Eren.

"Eren! I'll go be back up to Mikasa's group. Take care of Jean's team! Leave this location for a while."

The titan nodded and headed to where Jean is. I had enough space to glide to Mikasa's location.

I forgot I don't have any gas left...

I reached them. They needed back up. I stood there waiting for them to signal me to come in and kill the titans. It turns out they managed it theirselves. Mikasa had a spare gas and gave it to me.

We stood still in the silence of no titans around the area. Seems like the left zone's clear. We were relieved....

Just in the middle of the silence, we heard a loud roar from a titan. It was Eren. We headed towards where Jean are but we bumped into them instead. We had a fall.

Jean said that titans swarmed the right zone and that Eren was trapped there. They couldn't attack because they can get caught easily.

I looked up ahead as I heard another roar...

Eren....

I'm coming!!!
