Oh my God, chapter fourty! I don't believe it.
Ace's POV
"How could you tell her?!" Faith yells as Hunter, Jackson, Justin, Summer and I stand on the football field after school.
"Yeah, how could you believe her so easily?" Justin scoffs, supporting Faith. I ignore them and roll my eyes.
"How could you believe Faith so easily?" Jackson raises an eyebrow in Summer's defense and they both blurt an 'Oh' at the same time.
"Faith I know what I did was wrong and I'm definitely not trying to be defensive right now but trust me when I say I didn't do this willingly." Summer speaks for herself, for the first time.
"Tell me about it." Faith scoffs. "You don't want to know what that itching powder did to me, if only you did, trust me, you wouldn't dare apologize to me." She rants on, waving her right hand in front of Summer's face.
"I know and I'm sorry." Summer says in a low voice, very soft that anybody with a heart would instantly warm up.
"Let's just face the fact that this has got to do with Fiona again. I can't wait to meet her!" Justin beams. "I had endless dreams about the story you told me, I almost peed my bed." He laughs.
"True and now that she's involved, I really want in on this too." Hunter adds. Faith scoffs, again. And folds her arms across her chest ,eyeing Summer up and down irritatedly.
"Well I guess she's got to be saying the truth since she seems to know Fiona." She says.
Summer gives Faith one of those killer smiles, seriously, she needs to be crowned the King of smiles,"I am saying the truth trust me."
"Alright, alright. Enough with the chit chat, I'm so in the mood to have Fiona yell for her mom again." Hunter says, licking his lips and rubbing his palms together maniacally.
I put a hand on his shoulder and raise one eyebrow. "Dude quit it, now, that's just creepy."
"No no. I have a better idea." Faith smirks, "One that involves Eileen." She adds and turns to look at Summer,"Do you know where she lives?"
"Yes." She bows her head slightly and raises her head again,"This is not my first encounter with her. One day she dropped by our house claiming she's Ace friend that needs direction to his house. Telling me her 'informant' told her where I lived."
"And you believed her?" Jackson asks the same time I say, "That explains her visitation."
Faith shakes her head and puts both hands on her waist. "Is anybody interested in what I have to say?!"
* * *
"Lee, are you ready for this?" I ask my girl as Summer puts the baseball hat on her head. All six of us, plus Eileen and Alex, eight, are currently in Hunter's parked minivan in front of Fiona's condo, according to Summer.
I glance at the time on my iPhone," Nine - fourty five people." I announce unnecessarily .They all give me weird looks before sighing.
"I was born ready." Eileen says, answering my initial question. She beams and has been nothing but excited ever since we told her about our weird plan. Faith's weird plan. She had introduced Alex because according to her, he was a literate computer genuis and the best guy for the job.
I swear the dude still hates me but why wouldn't he?
"Okay guys." I say and help Eileen up as we both step out of the minivan. Walking towards the door in slow, exaggerated steps, I think about the odds. What if the plan doesn't work out? What if we get busted?
Taking a deep breath in, I knock on the door gently. I wait for a while but nothing happens. Scoffing, I knock harder this time. Eileen sighs, face palms, bows her head a little and shakes her head.
"What?" I frown. She raises her free hand and points in the direction of a doorbell I hadn't noticed before now, still maintaining her little head action.
"Oh." I laugh nervously and ring the doorbell. Although, there's no reply the door comes flying open almost immediately.
Fiona stands in front of us both, shocked and definitely not expecting to see us. "Ace, you are here." She says, unsure of my presence.
Her eyes suddenly go wide and she immediately becomes conscious of her appearance, adjusting her hair and fiddling with her night gown. "You're here." She repeats.
I roll my eyes and look down at Eileen, her gaze follows mine and she beams, "Oh my God!" She immediately lowers herself to Eileen's height and fiddles with her hair repeatedly.
"You brought Eileen." She laughs sweetly and for a second, I almost forget why we are here in the first place. I shake my head and force on the most emotionkess, stiff face I can manage.
"Yes I did. I know what you did to my friends Fiona and knowing you, you wouldn't stop till you get what you want." I rush my speech, making sure not to forget any lines. "So I've thought that if giving you our daughter would make you stop, then it's a win-win for us both."
She raises one eyebrow in doubt and I continue, "Yes because, I won't have to worry about a child butting in the adventures of my teenage life and you get to keep the daughter of your dreams."
"I see. I didn't know you were so thoughtful." She laughs and I ignore her again.
"Are you going to promise to stay out of my life from now on?" I ask her and she smiles again.
"Of course darling. Where is her stuff?" She asks and pokes her head out to see if I'll have a luggage beside my feet.
"Oh about that. I wanted something to remember her by and I figured out that you could get a lot of new things for her." I shrug and she nods, gently pulling Eileen inside the house.
Eileen stays quiet the whole time and I'm grateful for that. "Girl always remember that I love you no matter what okay?" I say.
"Oh my God!" Fiona shrieks, "I always knew it Ace, I always knew that you loved me!" She laughs and spreads her arms out to hug me, I slap both her hands down and frown.
"I was talking to Eileen." I point out and give Eileen the warmest hug. "Don't forget anything." I whisper in her ear and she nods in my shoulder. I let go off her and smile, wiping an imaginary tear away from my cheek.
Fiona doesn't say anything. She just pulls Eileen inside and slams the door shut while I head back to the minivan.
I have decide to go back to updating daily until the end of this book and If I can keep up, It'll be over before a week.
